What Should I Get My Wife For Christmas?

Well, it's come to this. I will turn to my brothers and sisters of IMTB to help me.

My wife says she doesn't want anything. She always says that.

We've been married 28 years. We aren't big on Anniversary, Valentines, Birthday or Christmas gifts - but we both appreciate a little something.

She does not like "practical" gifts like appliances or kitchen items. Minds out of the gutter boys - I mean household appliances.

She does not like sporting equipment at this point. No Fred Flintstone bowling balls, if you get the reference.

Can't buy clothing. Not into jewelry.

She loves spending time with her daughter, and oddly enough, with me.

I want her to have something to open on Christmas morning.

HELP!

Love the idea, but they just did that in New Orleans last weekend.

 

If her idea of a good gift is spending time with the family, have you thought about getting her an experience as a gift? I’ve used this company a few times with good results. The last one we did was a hang gliding lesson which was really fun. It’ll give her something to open on Christmas Day and something to look forward to when you get it scheduled.

Cool! She bought me a "Warbirds Experience" once for my birthday. I got to fly with an Air Force Pilot in a single engine, front/back plane with canopy. After a short flight school, and suiting up in proper flight suit with parachute, I was allowed to take over control of the plane and perform the maneuvers I learned about - Split S, Crazy 8, standard loop, rolls etc. I was too chicken to try any of them other than the roll and the vertical stall, but I asked my pilot to "demonstrate" the maneuvers for me. What a thrill! BTW, going over the top of a loop rightside up is way scarier than upside down!

That said, Tami is not into thrill experiences at this point in her life. She does like horses - as does my daughter. Hmmmm....

The wife and I are in your parallel world right down to the years of marriage. We just don’t buy anything for each other to open, cause we just don’t need anything more! However, we do like to spend time together, so we will do a spa date for a couples massage, usually or something else like dinner and a movie, we get some together time, I love it cause it takes a bit of the stress of Christmas and we save the presents fo the kids. We are on the same page.

Those are what my wife of 19 years is getting. We've already given each other everything else there is to give one another.

 

My wife figured out a long time ago to be explicit in what she wants me to get her. So she has pages marked in the Macys/Kohls/etc catalog, and I can't go wrong.

But in the other direction, she has a ways to go on this whole electronic gifting world...she got me an e-gift card to Jenson USA. I know this because the notification went to my email, as well as hers. I won't spoil her surprise though.

 

I dare not buy my wife any clothes. She will either take them back or never wear them. Too finicky!

 

Herz, gift cards to where ever your wife likes to shop is a winning move!

Might not be her thing, or you may already have them, but Disneyland season pass? Especially if the kid is involved as well.

 

Pffffftt.....they require your first born to afford season passes there.

 

Yeah, we had to give ours up a couple years ago when they started jacking up prices...

 

They're too far from Mickeyville for that to be economically sound.

We're less than 5 miles from there, so we could go for a few hours and not feel like it was a major undertaking.

 

Disneyland rule of thumb: One must know someone who works for Disney so that free passes can be scored.

EDIT: Same with Dodgers tickets: One must know someone who is a season ticket holder. I can't remember the last time I paid for Dodgers tickets.

They have horseback riding excursions on the beach in Pismo Beach/Oceano. Wife and I did it last year and it was pretty fun.
