The Weather Thread

I’m in Oceanside. I sleep pretty soundly so don’t know what happened from 11pm-3am but I had pools of water in my backyard grass for only the 2nd time in 23 years of living here. From 3-5am, it poured consistently and is still coming down steady at 7:50 am. No telling how much rain we’re getting but this weekend is shot.

 

It's been pouring all night long in Coto. Watersheds are raging rivers.

 

Only .68" for us today and it's tapering off. Another road ride tomorrow and hopefully dirt by Saturday. Jennifer's really itching to ride her bike.

 

Poured all night and into the morning... don't know what the totals are, but it's going to be substantive.
A warm storm, so the snow is going to get washed away.

 

Seriously, my buddy has water running through his garage.

 

I saw garage as gauge and my first thought was isn't that what they're for?

 

Wet...

 

It's pretty much dried out here a couple miles northwest of Dismal Land.

The rain statistics for the last week are pretty impressive. Santiago Peak has gotten 8.26" in the last 7 days. Palomar Mountain (just to the south) has gotten 11.74"

 

Went from crisp clear blue skies, to solid rain this afternoon in Redlands.
That is all.

I almost went to Bako last weekend for a stupid crazy hard race/ride. Glad I didn't, snow would have closed my return
Almost went again this weekend, would have been thwarted again.

 

After a near melt out, Denver got another handful of inches last night.

Nothing like the nightmare that is Lake Tahoe this WE...CHP pleading with the public to stay away or expect a 10 hour delay to get up the 50.

Not driving sounds really good...

My house is under about 6 to 8 inches of snow.

My commute this morning came to a standstill on State Route 138 off of Interstate 5. Heading East on 138 just as I was passing Quail Lake it turned into a parking lot. Sat there for well over an hour. Could not turn around as the Northbound onramp back onto the 5 was closed.
Turns out the North bound 5 heading towards the Tejon Pass at Castaic was closed as well. So I sat, and sat...

Thought it must have been a death and there was a CHP road paty.

Nope!
Just a bunch of idiots out in vehicles not made for the conditions, driving where they don't belong.. with no talent .
I sat idle in my 4X4 Dodge Diesel as they all untangled themselves in their Prius', Civic's, and 2 wheel drive Toyota pickups...

I'm going to invent a SNOWFLAKE-A-LIZER. You have to blow into it to see if you are competent to drive in snow and ice conditions!

This is after sitting for an hour... because it is now daylight .


This is after finally cresting the top and now just siting there to see miles of oncoming trucks and cars in the distance waiting behind truckers who are just spinning out on the solid ice...

 

Yuck...

Pretty, but yuck.

I agree with the Snowlfake-a-lizer, and I don't mean a device to identify people with no grit or tolerance for discomfort.
