Smelled fire last night so I opened up the Flightradar24 app and sure enough there was an OC Fire chopper doing circles around Silverado.

Yeah, I looked out the window this morning and the entire sky over by Santiago Peak and as far South as I can see is covered in smoke. It looks like a big one. It looks like no Luge for awhile.

 

As the sun rises, I can see the smoke plume from Fountain Valley.
Pretty good sized.


It looks like there is something else in the Riverside area

 

There are 2 fires burning. The Bind Fire between Silverado/Modjeska

and the Airport Fire out by Prado Dam. This one was almost contained 24 hrs ago and has exploded. Concerns of it jumping the 91 fwy.

There is a fire by Chino Hills Airport and another small fire out in Nuevo.

Rode Aliso yest evening and saw a small plume from that area but it looked short-lived.
Goddammit. “At least” the wind is pointing the fire towards the previously burned Loma ridge

 

There's still hope, my wife and I can gleefully move out of the ash tray state to a nicer one!

One thing is clear is that the two bits of Limestone Canyon that had not been burnt yet, have now also burnt down. Sad face

Sounds like the power was out as a precaution. I wonder if someone was using candles for light, and somehow caught the house on fire.

 

I read it was a generator.
Someone probably trying to power their house since the power was cut. Ironic.

 

OK, I was onto something. Power outage/house on fire=someone trying to come up with a workaround. Sucks.

 

putting wires in the air on dead trees was easy. Well it is 2020, why can't we put the non conductive spreader bars spaced on the wires between the dead trees? This way when the wires dance in the Santa Ana winds they will dance together instead of mono. When they dance mono they run into each other and create sparks. They have been stringing wires this way for 100 years, and the Santa Anas have been blowing for 100 years. Is there a connection between the two events?

 

Anybody know of a current burn area map? All I can find is the evacuation maps.
