That Other Site...

I did a Google search for Cannell Plunge ride reports, and STR popped up in the results... I grudgingly clicked on the link, and found this.

I'm sure it will only be down for a few weeks this time!

 

Prepare for an influx into our little club! @Mikie should get the domain and re-direct here!

 

Influx of what??? 6 people? I do not get what is going on over there. It's like they want to hang on for the sake of hanging on. I feel bad for those guys.

I just did a Google Search for Cannell Trail and we come up on page 4 with two links. 1) Is the Trail Forum, and 2) is my recent Video upload to Vimeo! Yuck! We should do better then that!?!?!?

I did not see STR at all and gave up at page 12.

I did spend a little time over there the other day. I was surprised that there was some comments that indicated we were not a friendly bunch over here. That really surprised me! I don't understand why we have to have a negative rivalry. We are both Mountain Bike Sites and love cycling. Geeez!

You may remember, I built this because STR was going down constantly and I wanted to maintain a place us So Cal folks could gather other than at mtbr ... Now that's a place a mother could hate. So much anger and disrespect... There are some really good folks there however... I wish they would come here to contribute!

 

It wasn't just "the other site" that was down but the OTBMBC site was down as well, and we already invaded this site

 

Where is the imtbtrails wall?

 

Well... It wasn't down long, and they came back with an unbeatable design. Here's a screenshot in case we need to copy it at some point in the future.



Pretty hard to beat that design in terms of efficiency and streamlining...

 

I think you need to hire Trump for that.

For realz!?? STR is one of the most clickish sites I've been on. I've totally seen the "locals" gang up on other posters there.

 

I hear yah, I was over there for a couple of years before starting imtbtrails. That place was turning ME into a jackazz, I was embarrassed when I finally figured it out. I started realizing that I was becoming a jerk and finally left.
It's one of the reasons I am so big on mutual respect over here. Nobody deserves to get their azz whooped for simply having an opinion.

To have someone say this is not a friendly place is either just jealous, mislead, or potentially one of those jackwads...

 

And this is the reason I almost never posted over there. I saw what happened to other newbs, and it wasn't pretty!

 

They seem to be back up. The site must have been down for a couple days... Or nobody posts. The newest post was Saturday morning at 7:38.

Something I failed to mention...
Our very own @herzalot stepped up and set that statement straight over on STR. I mean thoroughly and respectfully. That post turned to crickets chirping after that (in regards to a negative retort). I genuinely appreciated it big time. Thank you Herz!

 

I've recruited several awesome peeps from STR over to IMTB. Raise your hand if an STR post led you here...

I usually say something to the effect of "You won't see much traffic on this site (STR) anymore. You might try IMTBTrails.com if you want to join a more active So Cal MtB forum."

 

Looks to be pretty much be @ridinrox & @doublewide being the only people posting over there. One big chat-room for two!

I received a similar invitation from @mtnbikej once upon a time. The rest is history!

This thread on STR is pretty funny. I steer the newcomer to IMTB and claim he won't get but two responses on STR in two weeks. In spite of some stalwart opposition and defiance, my prediction turns out to be fairly accurate. Maybe even worse. There was 1 response 5 days after my post and 5 total responses in two weeks, but then nothing for four months! The horse is dead people, but hey, keep on beating it.
