    Ride Name: Sunday Funday....All Over the Mountain....Just Because
    When: Sunday 2-12
    Time: 7:00 am Roll Time
    Where: Peltzer Pines Tree Farm / Blackstar Cyn
    Ride Description or Details:
    This is a WTF ride.

    I'm in the mood for a 10k'+ day.

    This is not a technical ride....as far as I know, but there may be some unforeseen rough spots.

    The route you ask? It's a simple one.
    up Maple Springs....across Main Divide....down Eagle....up Skyline....out to Sierra Peak....down Coal Cyn...Green River over to Skyline, up Skyline, down Blackstar.

    From what I hear Coal cyn is pretty torn up.

    There is also now a new bypass from Green River to Foothill Prkway to the bottom of Skyline.

    This is not a beginner/intermediate.....Sorry @herzalot, this includes you.

    The pace will be moderate. It's a long ride, and a lot of climbing. We will try to keep moving.

    ~~~~~ Optional Details ~~~~~
    Meet Location:
    Peltzer Pines Tree Farm / Blackstar Cyn
    Skill Level: Advanced, Suicidal
    Ride Pace: Moderate Pace
    Type of Ride: Loop
    Rider Limit: As many suckers as I can rope intonit
    Anticipated Mileage: 63-65 miles....Metric Century Baby!!!
    Elevation Gain: 11,000'+/-
    Ride Duration: All day....don't make other plans
    Previous Ride Reports: For this loop.....maiden voyage
    Possible Bail-Outs: Sally's can turn around anywhere up Maple Springs, drop down Motorway. Once on Eagle you are committed to Skyline....then bail down Blackstar. Out To Sierra Peak, same holds true...turn around and head back down Blackstar. One you commit to Coal Cyn....you are in for the rest of the ride.
    OR
    You can just go ride the GNAR at Fully Loop
    Facilities: Wonderfully clean sh!tter at the Maple Springs gate. Otherwise it's you and the California Sage Brush. Water is available at mile 24 or so then again easily available from miles 35-48.
    Food/water suggestions: you see the mile as and elevation.....you oughta know by now.
    But... If you bail at the top of Skyline, or Sierra Peak, it's the same ride that he almost talked you into a couple of weeks ago. Come on... Join the suffering. :thumbsup:
    Highball yes... sad to say the pilot of my Highball couldn't even keep up with MtnbikeJ going up blackstar on one his "social" night rides... this full ride is on my to-do soon.
    is it hard to find Skyline once you drop down Eagle?
    I've done it a few times, but don't remember the names of the streets... It's not hard, though. And it's only about 10 minutes, mostly downhill. You can see it in the Strava link below.
    The only really tricky part is the bottom of Eagle. If you follow the trail to the end, it dead ends at private property. You have to take a little detour to exit legally... That is also in the Strava link.
    Eagle never gets talked about here, because of the cost of entry. But, even the "downhill or die" guys would have fun on that one. It's a very fast twisty single track that drops down to the Corona side. If I can manage to get down without a flat, it's a blast...
    I'm gonna blame part of that on Hugh....he likes to slowly wind up the pace :rolleyes:
    Getting from Eagle to Skyline is pretty easy. I spent a bit of time the first time I did it this way looking on Google Maps to find the shortest route.
    As Steve said, taking the correct turn to avoid the private property at the bottom is the difficult part. Once you see it, it's not a problem.
