It was a who's-who, A-list, in-the-know kinda gathering today at Skypark. Apparently everyone was there!
Ran into a bunch of people, but we were all on different frequencies so I didn't get footage of riding with any of my extended riding family. And that's OK - a place like Skypark lets everyone do their own thing and still hang out together. I had to leave about mid-day, but it was a great day up there anyway!

One thing I do often, and even more so when riding with Patrick Stewart (the dude who clears the wood tabletop mid-video), is I think about what I'm doing, and try to do better without analyzing the fun out of it. That's why you'll hear me say "Be the path." Too often I fixate on an object along the path, esp. in turns, and it screws up my riding. By first remembering to see that path, I'm reminded to look further ahead. Then by thinking about being the path, I'm reminded that there's a state of being where I'll look ahead, but at nothing in particular, and yet see everything and ride accordingly. In a state of "flow", the separations between bike, trail, and self disappear...in losing the immediate physical connection to myself, I have transcended these separate things and become greater.

    Or something like that. :geek:

Ha! I should have followed you @redwoods I tend to do better following someone and I don’t have to think. My first time down jump line I had the back end come up high. High pucker factor
Despite the bike fest that was advertised, the park wasn’t too crowded. By 1:00pm the place cleared out pretty good.
I lost track of the number of laps I did.
It was great to see some familiar faces out there :)

Here's a better angle of the drop

My momentum running on foot carried me to the launch of the step up. I probably would've got more air on foot than my bike.

You would have been a HERO if you rode that log down instead of the drop.

My first time on comet I went left towards the skinnies. Did only half and took the P line in the rest. The second time on comet I went right to the drop on the video. They added a short ladder to the drop side so you can actually roll into the drop. It’s still steep and daunting but it’s got a really good long runout.
I’m not too good at the slow balancing act on the skinny ladders so I rather do the drop.

This place looks pretty sweet! I should check it out sometime...I’ve heard that Greer Ranch and Exploration trail are awesome as well :Roflmao (Pretty much 90% of my riding between those 3 right now ). Sounds like Herzalot and I are kindred spirits in this regard: when u find what works, do that thing!

I was up there Sunday...I was the oversized man child/simioid on the undersized demo Levo, then demo Reign)...I keep wondering if any Peeps from this forum are up there, but I’m usually too time oriented to stop and check…

That's good to know! I had a hard time lining up for the drop after the slow turn. I cleared it eventually but was nose heavy and didn't release my brakes soon enough.

I'll do drops all day - up to about 5'. Jumps - not great - but if they have tables I'll give it a go.
Doubles/gaps - not likely. Skinnies? I have no desire and no skill.

Thanks for the hesitation-breeds-devastation moment @pwe312. Glad it didn't result that way. New meaning to the word runout.

Their jumps are pretty good to learn on. They have some small doubles but it's not a dirt wall if you come up short... There's a small ramp up with a small penalty if you case it. The big jumpers can string together some rollers if they want a big gap to clear. The jumps are not "lippy"

Anyone know if the trails at Skypark are open these days? I know there is snow in the forecast for Thursday night, but do the trail get cleared for riding? Thanks

Open Saturdays and Sundays only during the winter pending conditions. That area doesn’t get a ton of snow so they are usually good to go not long after storms.

Weekends only until spring while doing construction.

But, the trails are clear and open again.

Well that looks like it requires confidence and commitment, even though it's not 10' in the air. Skinnies are beyond my skill set. Nice work and thanks for posting.

Spoke with a friend that works at the Park last night. Three trails only are open and there is mud on all three. Only open weekends and it sounds like it will be best to wait for Spring. Thanks all
