So... Hypothetically speaking. Let's say you have three main bikes: gravel, single speed hardtail, and full suspension bike. You love them all, but will have to choose just one for the next 30 days. The other two will be in storage. Which one should get the nod and be allowed to breathe free air?!?!

I know which way I'm leaning, but let's see what the crowd says...

Put road slicks on you HIghtower....with trails closing left and right....that is about all you’re gonna be able to ride anyway.

Normally I'd say Hightower hands down but with this virus crap and your new stomping grounds I'm not sure there's anyplace to ride it. I vote for another option and that's putting gears on your hardtail...:D I've got plenty of room to store a couple bikes for you if needed.

With everything closing, gravel bike. You can do road and dirt road.

Or put gears and skinny tires on the SS and your really set!

When we moved from OC to Carlsbad, we had to live in an AirBNB for a couple of months until we could move into our new house. So, like you, all of our stuff had to go to storage for a bit. I actually rented a separate small storage unit to keep my bikes in so I would still have access to them. I think at one point, I had 3 bikes at the AirBNB parked in the kitchen and spare bedroom. Not sure the wife appreciated that too much.......... But, in this environment, and for only 30 days, I'd keep the gravel bike out if I had to choose one.

obviously the correct answer is to buy a new bike! But to help further turn this into IGGTrails.com, the Kona seems like the best option to me. You can obviously ride it around on roads and bike paths where you're at in order to learn the neighborhood, but can take it into the nearby mountains as well. The narrower bars and shorter wheelbase will make it easier to transport and store. If anything, getting a cheap second set of wheels and putting something like Schwabe G 1 semi slicks on it for road riding as well as a burlier set for dirt would be an option.

Don’t forget that where you are moving to has closed dirt (for the most part) so it only makes sense to keep the combo bike rolling since it can do it all. Lemme know when you’re ready to try it out.

I'm trying to buy a house! Don't show me those... :stop: :p

Well... It seems that the Kona is the smarter choice. I was leaning towards the single speed, because that's my comfort zone, but skinny tires win out!

Looks like I'm late to the party. It also looks like you made the right decision. I've ridden my MTB three out of the last five days but given the current situation we are all facing I wouldn't hesitate to keep the gravel bike for my do it all choice.

Local trails might be closed but if you venture the Hightower is the do it all bike weather gravel, road, PC, Joplin, Motorway, etc. This coming from a guy who took a WFO9 for a road ride...

To prevent similar anxiety, I would have chosen a single-speed bike and gone for a ride until the evening because the time on self-isolation was too slow, so much so that I had time to miss the outside world that surrounded us before this whole situation with covid. That is why many people began to feel stressed, and this condition worried me for a long time. The only way out was kratom herb and my bike which now serves me every day as an economical vehicle and a great friend.

Hello and welcome from Southern California! How did you find our little forum on the other side of the world? And what type of Kona do you have?

And I would also choose a single speed hardtail... In fact, I'm getting ready to ride one in a little while. :D

Reading this thread again, it seems so long ago. o_O

In the end, I chose the Kona Sutra to take to the temporary apartment. It was the right choice, as just about all the dirt up here was closed.
