Mikie you need to learn you military aircraft better. NGC aren't the only aircraft in the military. Majority of the aircraft in the military are made of metal

Just because you are the man of steel, does NOT mean bikes should be made of steel. You just proved that! :p

I can't like this post. When society breaks down completely, we'll be looking for metal workers to make our pitchforks.

Since you guys have broken everything else, the only real solution here is Titanium. I'll start the bidding for mine at the low price of say $10k...

MTB frames break. That is just part of the sport. You wouldn't believe how many people during the race on my long walk back to camp told me about how they broke one of their bikes, in all materials steel, carbon, aluminum and even titanium. I really did enjoy seeing how many people rode steel bikes during the race. It is a timeless material for all types of bikes, even in the road bike world you are seeing them return to the peloton.

Unfortunately, the industry tells us that carbon is what we need but really we should just ride what we got and have fun. I think that all materials have come a long way. I was shocked at how good Jason's Chameleon handled especially being aluminum.

The lack of sleep and drive home was the worst. I had to stop in beautiful Kingman and take a nap in a gas station. The shower last night was glorious. I’m still on the never again 24 hours but I’m sure I’ll come around just like all the times I said never again to vision quest. Do I need to train more, yes. I maybe should have paced myself a little better. It was an awesome group and an awesome time that maybe when the tiredness wears off I realize that I enjoyed myself.

I totally agree. A few times on my drive home, especially while sitting in Vegas stop n go traffic in Primm, NV. It was more of a challenge to stay awake then some of the laps during the race. I ended up taking a 5 hour Energy. I have never taken any of those types of products. It took a little to kick in but then I became so aware until I got home and crashed hard.

On another note, I didn't realize that from my crash in the middle of the night that more than just my legs got beat up. I have a giant bruise and scrap running down my back. I saw it after taking a shower and looked in the mirror as saw this big black and blue and red area on my back.

I might entertain a 12 hour solo. Depends on what other Endurance races I plan to do in 2022. Already signed up for the High Cascade 100 miler in Bend, OR. in July.

Bummer seeing a steel bike fall. I love steel, even if I don't ride one. I like my plastic bikes, I really, really do.

Good effort all. I did one 24 hour...sorta (gave up and slept in the night, still finished second in class). I have done it multiple times motorcycle racing and it is difficult to say the least.

John got the first lap... The first lap was a Le Mans start where the riders had to run to their bikes. Lap 1 took the fire road instead of the single track to spread out the riders.

Guy travels 400 miles from home, and still has to work on bikes...

Great photos. I do like the hat...and the scenery. We're heading out there on Thursday but I'll be riding a bike with gears, recovering in a jacuzzi, taking a hot shower every night and sleeping in a real bed.

I'll bet the whole race scene camaraderie was pretty cool though.

If anybody is ever driving through the St. George area and looking for a quick ride. I personally think the Jem and Hurricane Cliffs trails are definitely worth the detour. The Jem trail is really fun with tons of flowy, sweepy turns and areas of rock gardens and chunk. It seemed like we only scraped the surface of trails in the area. The Hurricane Rim trail connects to that area as well. There was so much. We were racing just at the bottom of the mesa from Gooseberry so that is also an option. And 10 miles away in St. George is the Zen trail and Bearclaw Poppy's with everything else that makes up True Grit.

It is a perfect thru ride area when heading to Moab or Colorado from Arizona or Southern CA.

    And John crashed really hard….

I was having issues clipping in on the left side my last lap and on the post race loop. Part of my pedal was bent…..

Should look like this….it’s the limiter for the spring in the rear of the cleat:

    Never seen that part break.

Already cannibalized another broken pedal for said part.
