Other than mountain biking, what are some of the must do or see things in and around the area? After my morning rides, I'd like to take my wife out so that she can have some fun too (and me as well).

Also, any good restaurants to recommend? Places to get a good margarita? Seems like sites like Trip Advisor and Yelp are pretty sketchy on that, and the website advertising on alcoholic beverages at local establishments is nil. Must be a thing.

If you're willing to drive a few miles check out Cedar Breaks NM and Bryce Canyon NP.

If you head up to Cedar Breaks, continue the loop up to Lake Panguitch. It's a nice detour, and the little restaurant at the Resort/Diner/boat rental is pretty good. Not a top 10 destination, but one hell of a fishing hole. Enjoy.

Watch the hours for restaurants... We normally go to Red Robin for a burger after the race. It was closed. On a Saturday night. For staff training. o_O  Half of the other places that we pulled up on Yelp were also closed. At dinner time on a Saturday. o_O

I forget the name of the place we ended up- more counter service than sit down, but the food was really good and hit the spot. Maybe @mtnbikej remembers...

And... What was that edgy coffee shop that we went to in Hurricane before we headed out to Gooseberry? That place was worth a visit... :inlove: I believe it was a @Cyclotourist recommendation at the time...

I remember coffee, tattoos and mini skirts. Not necessarily in that order. :D

I'm not a coffee drinker but almost everybody else in my group is so we stop here nearly every day. They also have huge cinnamon rolls in the morning and very good pizza for lunch & later. Good views off the back deck. The only negative is it's become immensely popular. Hit it at the wrong time and the line is out the door.

Tuachan Theater for concerts, plays, entertainment. I’ve never been but I have heard great things. Beautiful setting.
This is about as “other” as you can get. Might get extra points from the wifey if she likes this stuff.

You could always go hunting for a second wife. You can even get a couple more. Could get expensive

Now, now, thats not accepted in St George. You need to go about 40 miles East on Hwy 59 to Colorado City for that. We were going thru there in 1993 on the way to Lake Powell and had been joking about that issue. The 20'ish year old young lady working at the Chevron there was so freaking unbelievably HOT that I would have taken on a 2nd wife in a mili-second. I'm not sure if my 1st (& current) wife would have been on board though.

Thanks folks for all your input. I've checked into it all and have some good ideas for a rough itinerary. My wife should be happy. We can play it mostly by ear but not have to struggle with coming up with something out of the blue. :)

For a nice walk or hike check out Red Hills Desert Garden and Pioneer Park on the north side of the city.

That place was interesting because it showed a side of the younger Utah folks that I was unaware of. The twisty river roaring through down below in the back of the shop was cool, too.

Riggatti's Wood Fired Pizza on Main St. in St. George. Balcony One is a really good restaurant on Hwy 9 on the way to Zion. And in Springdale, The Whiptail Grill (a converted gas station) is top notch. If your wife is up for some hiking and you have a vehicle with some ground clearance, head up Smithsonian Butte Rd. (ideally a legit 4x4 as the road is in pretty rough shape) in the late afternoon and do a hike/bike around Wire Mesa...the sunset views are pretty stunning (pic above) and it's a nice ride/hike.

edit: Almost forgot Main St. Cafe in Hurricane, nice covered patio, right around the corner from Over The Edge Bike Shop.
