50+ is the new 30. Most of the young whippersnappers out there are hard-pressed to keep up with us OGs:)

Age and treachery overcome youth and vigor every time:thumbsup::):devilish:

Wow, 50 is "old' riders. That's just around the corner for me! One of the guys I ride roadie with is 76. He's a cancer survivor and has been hit three times by cars, and still gets out to ride. He's not the fastest, but I hope I am still standing at his age much less knocking out 40 mile bicycle rides.

I think we get a lot of runners who run until they are 40 or 45... and then their body tells them they need to switch cardio activities :)

One of our younger drivers made a comment the other day about some older guy about 42. I asked him how old he thought I was. Surprisingly he didn't think I was that old but it made me feel old non the less. Thank goodness for MTB!

I am not quite 50 yet, got a few more years to go, but when I don't ride at least once a week I sure feel like I am at least 60 and out of shape.

MTB...one sport where the geriatric set can still rage.

My bike goes from inline wheelchair to inline walker with a quick dismount. Tools of the trade, bitches!!!

I like that, can I use it and attribute it to some notable person of interest like Abraham Lincoln or Marilyn Monroe?

I'm 36, I sometimes fear for the future if these are my best years.

Doohood, your athletic prime is already behind you. But don't fear; the mind takes its downward plunge much later than the body. : D

Seriously though...someone thinking he gonna defer all his badassery to retirement years is failing already. Do stuff now. F the American work ethic!

My athletic prime is now, I'm finally back down to a decent weight(for me). I spent my 20's busting my hump, eating bad, working absurd hours, kinda miserable-"Paid my dues". I'm biking more than I ever have, it's more enjoyable for sure though I still work quite a bit but I get plenty of time off, life is good I'd say. I do travel now that I'm young enough to walk upright, I'm happy. No badassery is being reserved for later though, later may not come!

Well into my fifties, but do not feel it.
I think these could be some of my best years, even though they have certainly had some serious challenges.

MTB is awesome. It may be painful at times, but is keeping me young at heart, and in decent shape.
Sometimes I worry about the day I won't be able to mountain bike anymore, and wonder what I'll do. Canasta? Bridge? Or ?
Just as I don't have a AARP card, I do not see myself frequenting a 50+ group. That's for people that feel there age....

My dad rode (mtb and road) into his 70's, it was his alzheimers that got him off the bike. He was in great physical shape and rode everyday. I ride with guys who are well into their 60's and can keep up with riders half their age. I hope to be that way when I get older.

Yesterday while surfing, there was a young guy (early 20's) catching wave after wave. I caught one, rode it into shore and paddled back out. Another set was coming in and he asked if I was gonna go right again. I laughed and said: I'm old, I need to rest after each wave I catch.

On a serious note: I have to remind myself I'm not in my twenties anymore even though I don't feel 53. My bones don't hurt, nor my back, knees etc. I have no other health issues other than what I inherited (glaucoma). I believe I'll be around for a very long time unless my number is called earlier than I want to go ...

Ok, I dare you young guys out there to be at the fitness level most of us "old guys" are in or better, by the time you get old? I'm not even sure I know what that means? I guess old to me is 80 or 90?

Age, I think, is just a state of mind. I turned 50 this year and I've been told I don't look my age. I definetly don't feel or act my age for that matter. It just takes me a little longer to get up and dust myself off when I eat Sh!t on my bike  :whistling:
