New to MTB and love it

I get what you mean! It is easy loop but not completely crash free! Yeah FLoop is the only route I have been riding so far. I never imagined I could crash there, but yeah... that happened to me

Floop my favorite.
Don't clip in... ride FLAT ...
when I started the worse advice I got was that I needed to clip in ASAP.. but the FLATS and Shoes are so good now.. its better to
start w/ FLAT pedals and some decent shoes...
I hate the Floop... I love the Floop..

Thanks, Konakc I have no plan to try to clip in any future. I will probably consider getting a better flat pedal later!

 

when your shins are all full of scabs you will learn to ride SPD's. Once learned you are one with the bike and one with the mountain. Find a place with sandy trails to soften your crashes. I learned on Happy Camp Cyn ridge. A 10,00o year old beach, bastard to climb but soft to crash on.

he forgot to mention your tire compresses (sadly more with low pressure). then in a millisecond both shocks fully compress as you continue your forward movement., then instantaneously you look down and see all three springs release, giving you lift and boost energy, you see this in very slow motion. Sadly the 2nd mouse gets the cheese.

There was only the one suspension component....unless you count the rear tire as suspension.

Awesome reply, but true. I'm good with that myself. If a cougar eats me that's ok, let it live and figure WTF, he's now one with nature, and eventuality a poop on the trail.

 

so was riding along and heard a loud strike. then i was flying before I knew there was a take off. I was going not too fast about 25ish. when I realised I was flying I was already prone and headed in helmet first, but my helmet shows no marks, but then my left shoulder. this i am sure. Doc said fractured the clavicle. 2nd doc said I am lucky no surgery.

Today is the one year anniversary of my helicopter ride. So I texted my friend Todd who was with me and helped me out last year. He said - "Well in a twist of irony, I broke my scapula in two places last Saturday on Lizard." But he decided to ride out whereas I decided to take a taxi.

Yup - too many of these. But why is @da big hills post in this thread and not in crash confessions?

 

because I rode out and the doc said no surgery. And it happened in a place with near zero crash potential, I told the newb it can happen Anywhere

 

Still it's about your crash and not about welcoming @B.J. Ryu - but then again that's who we are!

these crashes are happening all too often... did not crash much when riding a no suspension 26 inch steel frame bike... but now with the advances in tech.. you can't help but go faster and faster on gnarlier and gnarlier... just to get the same high... since my little crash that took me out two months.. i've been taking it easy and slow but the thrill is just not the same... the first time I cleared Repo or T n A.. that feeling is what I'm missing...

 

Sooooo, you are saying modern bikes are giving riders the false sense skill? Interesting.
