Thanks, yes, I've been geeking out on trailforks today and saw that I could get up there from Caballero, which is closer to me. Thanks for the nod to Hummingbird, hadn't heard of it, but looks like fun - any tips on best way up? Chumash to the peak trail over? I also read some good things about El Prieto and Sunset - wondering if there is nice loop that pulls those in...

Lived in Boston area for many years, miss the Fall mostly. The people are definitely not the warmest bunch. Barely rode out there, really got into it moving here (I'm a socal native). Welcome!

Thanks. I definitely miss the fall, and winter, and the pizza is pretty good back east too. But it's been 25 years since I left the area, and first time living on the West Coast, so we'll see what this desert here has to offer.

The bird is great from Chumash but you have a long stretch of Rocky Peak fire road which is boring. I climb it but that is not really something I do often or recommend. I depart at Corregonville and ride the back face to Stage Coach, take that to the pass road, this drops you off 100 yards from the bottom of Rocky Peak (the steep part) 750 feet up you will see a bench to the left and a post. Finish 1 mile back to the car on Kuehner (paved but by now your tired anyways). Every time I do Chumash I think about the loop and then turn around and drop Chumash. It is so smooth most of the way, banked corners, unlimited air. One other option is Johnson motorway, but again once you climb it you really want to drop it, insane air opportunities.
    Happy trails
you can ride Sulli and Rogers Road as a loop via the hub. Also starting at Cab.

We commonly do a lollipop Brown Mt/El Prieto ride, and El P and Sunset (Ridge) can be connected via Brown Mt/Fern Truck trails. It's a lung buster getting up to Sunset (Ridge) on Mt Lowe road though. And if you're gonna go that far, might as well hit Echo Mountain Trail to see the railway ruins first.

Thanks, I'll probably get out there next weekend. Now that I've hit Sullivan, and El Prieto, and have hummingbird to look forward to, I'm starting to feel pretty good - nothing I can ride from the door, but a lot of options within 20-30 minutes.

Sounds good. I'm looking forward to putting together some longer rides soon. For now, I just did the El P loop and it was funnnnn! Happy to see the climb was single track and I loved both sections of the down hill. Hot and lot's of people, but still, lot's of fun. Side note: I now see why there may be some controversy around e-bikes.

We recently did Brown to Ken Burton, down the Gabrielino, back up Brown, and then down El Prieto. That was a decent route. Starting from JPL, I think it's only 20/3500.

Something about multi-page introductory threads...:cautious: After a page, it's time to leave the incubator and get in the mix.

Nice work on the rides, @Nag! :geek:
