Nearly had

Waiting for my used custom ti frame to be delivered I called the original builder to get some insights, figuring he'd remember a one-off design for a specific customer, which he very much did.

His opinion is the frame should not even be on the market. It's been broken and repaired multiple times, and he even refused to do the repair work the second time. The owner got someone else to repair it. Nothing was stated about this in the ad, obviously.

Delivery today will be denied. We'll see if the payment goes to dispute or if this sketchy character will refund me. Beware of pinkbike user apocalypsecyclery.

I learned way too much about the frame and its owner. The owner used to work for the builder. That should give a clue to the drama...

Seller appears to be willing to refund. Still touting the magic of titanium and not owning up to lack of disclosure of multiple breakages and repairs.

Sketchy is right. But I consider myself lucky with all I've bought used. Two items out of ???

 

This is an example of why I always hate buying and selling used stuff. I do it, but man I stress out so much every time.

 

I don't relish it, either. But I've netted so far ahead that it's worth it. Two items out of, probably, fifty were clunkers. 4%...sounds pretty high, actually! I sell cheap because I want it to happen fast, but then you get the "cheap people" with it... No winning with the bike jones. MSRP is also losing, IMO, but I do it.

 

Man! Good catch. Does he already have the bankroll in his account or can you card cancel it calling fraud?

 

Guy's got my dough through PayPal. PP got a verbal on the situation and is backing me up if I need to dispute. But it's through my CC under PayPal, so I might have additional recourse.


Sketchy people are...sketchy. He explains why it was dirt cheap...via text after I had paid for it and found out about its history. Why not just put the history in the ad if it's all good now? Right, so you can get one over on somebody. MF...

 

There's a term for this - caveat emptor.

Remember this debacle?

The seller got his frame back and pinched $100 out of the refund. Consistent, at least! PayPal will dispute the hundred for me, so no loss.

Can you believe the balls on this turd? Caught red-handed with a deceptive ad and bunk product, and still thinks it's "fair" for him to walk away without PP and shipping fees. Like I should pay them??? Serious balls!!!!!!!!!! Just not the right kind.

PayPal escalated their dispute with the deceptive thief, meaning he is refusing to comply.

Got all my funds back; PayPal case judged in my favor is closed.

PP fee was $42. Not sure what he ate on shipping, but if he paid more than $60 he got taken. The frame was sticking out of the flimsy box when it arrived – no packing/wrapping inside whatsoever. I wonder how it looked after the return trip...

 

He looks slow.
