Kokopelli 2015 Day 1 Video

I'm not as cool as jfsh (who could be? ) Unfortunately my Vid is all shot first person.
Did my best to cram some hilights in to one song... just too much goodness!

Good God man - way to handle all of that chunk AND the exposure! Danny Macaskill ain't got nothing on you.

If that chunk looked challenging on video (which it did) I can imagine it was not easy, yet you rode it like a boss. And on the edge of a pretty unforgiving hillside/cliff too. "Pardon me, coming through, I got this...why are you walking? Excuse me, rider back, coming through, not worried about exposure and cliffs, gotta nail this chunk, Yeti coming through...."

I had always heard that Kokopelli was mostly fireroad and Jeep trail. Guess not.

Oh - and great song too. One of my all-time favorite tunes, and yes indeed, it was "Just Another Day."

Holy guacamole that was some great riding there Watson. Way to represent my friend. You looked to be the only one who rode thru all that chunk. I especially liked seeing your hand fly out and grab that big rock at about 3:50. What a great video, the scenery is just amazing. :clap:

 

Awesome job Mikie! Just exactly where is that first day section?

 

Hey Buddy, It's at the beginning of Koko just outside of Fruita. There are 3 loops that are combined into one to make that section of the Kokopelli. The first loop is called Mary's Loop which is the beginning of this sweet sweet stuff!

This video is like a highlight reel of how much of a bad ass Mikie is, with all of the people he passed shots, hehe.

Very nice video....great looking trail. Looks like fun.

But we all really want to know, is who did you pay to film the helmet cam while they rode? Surely with skills like that, they had to be a pro or something.

Sweet video Mikie. Brings back so many great memories. Never noticed that much exposure riding that 1st section. I guess I was so focused on the trail I never looked down. Thank God!

 

F-ing sweet vid Mikie!!!! I too absolutely loved the hand on the rock! Multitasking at it's best! I would be mighty proud of that vid, I think I'll watch that more than a few times. :thumbup:

 

It's true, the majority of the Koko is 4 Wheel Drive access, but wait until you see Vid 2 of those 4 Wheel Drive Roads (they are awesome!) but each day you have some amazing technical goodness that is totally worth the fire roads. I'm tell'n yah the whole thing is epic and a great lifetime experience. In fact, I am "Fo Sho" going next year and want everyone to come with me.

I give the "Mikie Watson Guarantee" it will be a BLAST!

 

I thought of you often on this ride with the big miles you put in. If you have not done this ride J, first I'm confused as to why you have not, and 2nd, I'm sincerely hoping I can convince you to do it with me next year...

Nice video, Mikie. That's me in the neon yellow shorts you're following near the end of the clip. Is that Western Rim or still some of the early Fruita Loops? Has only rained and even snowed (!) since my return to Colorado. Alas, the bike hangs sadly from the rafters, as trails are muddy. Great footage and really priceless to see so many step aside for the master on the technical stuff. No gloating, but it sure feels good to demonstrate how it's done right.

 

So Mikie, will there be any more video of the epic?

 

My thoughts on those passes is that it made it all the more percarious for both partys, even more for the passee as some looked very close to stepping or slipping off the edge, alot of trust or hope going on there! They saw Mikie comming through and didn't have much time to get the fack out the way :shock: .

I'm positive that those passes look more precarious than they really were (just my opinion :lol, no mountain bikers were harmed in making this video.

. . . And yes, there is a part II and part III coming.
