How in heck did the bike end up in that position is what I wanna know.

 

According to the article in Bike Rumor it was along the lines of he was lifting over "Got a little shocked and dropped it" Then let the comedy ensue... I do like "Its just a little electric" but hey its all fun till someone gets and eye poked out.

 

That's a pussy electric fence. I got shocked by a cattle fence once and I am not kidding you I almost blacked out.

 

I always think about it when heading down Blackstar riding no-hands.

A Google Maps route I was on in MT dead-ended into an electric fence. There was a diagonal wooden cross-member on the outside of the wires. I threw my bike over and shimmied up the wood and over. At the other end, there was no wood, but just enough space to crawl under. I don't think I touched any live parts, but I have the suspicion that the fence wasn't powered up. The "trail" I was on was impossible to follow without a nav device in your hand. With a steel frame...could have been exciting

 

My understanding is: Single strand electric fences depend on ground moisture to complete the circuit. Double strand set-ups are more reliable but require twice the wire. Plenty of moisture in this field.

I got zapped once by a wired gate and it wasn't fun, but it shouldn't be to keep cows in. This field was full of sheep. I'd almost guess the shock was designed to keep the sheep from tying themselves in knots in the fence. Not sure what that says about the riders.

 

Looks like I need to commit a crime in Russia...

To me...it looks like they could have grabbed the bike from the handle bars no problem.
