...it was frickin' pouring when I got home. So I finished re-building my bike that I stole a headset from for the boy's new bike.

 

Thanks for the heads up. I have some family coming from out of town in February. This might be just the ticket for them.

The builder says they weighed in at 1955, which is a little less than we thought... I'll take that for Hopes and 30mm rims. My ARC 27s with 350 hubs are only a few grams lighter. I can't wait to see these on the Hightower.

 

This was the first set of wide rims that I have built, also the first ARC wheels I have built from scratch.

My math was a little off due to RaceFace giving BS ERD values for the rim. Spokes ended being a 1-2mm long. Not a problem, the laced up fine.

The wide rims weren’t as straight out of the box as the ARC 27, but straightened up pretty quick. Even the hops weren’t bad.

Only complaint was the welded seam again. The ARC 27 was smooth and flush....the ARC 30 had a noticeable hiccup.

Still it was less than 2.5 hrs for the pair. Even with me mixing up the spokes on the front wheel and having to measure all the spokes and restart.

 

. . . I got up, saw the cloud cover on the mountains, and did other stuff.

 

Cause I moto'd most of the day. No MTB's or MTB trails were harmed creating the smile my buddy and I have on our faces this evening. There was even some HAB. Have not thrown a leg over the steed in 6months so was cautious. Found 2 amazing canyons in this area that would blow you away. 40 miles of tech riding our fav.

.... I walked through Cherry Canyon instead. I had about 20 minutes to kill between work stops in the area so I decided to survey CC for rain damage. None to speak of and there was already signs of a rider or riders rolling through to enjoy the hero dirt. The place is greening up fast and this oak type tree even had some interesting blooms.

 

Lol, maybe they should, ya know...fix that little drainage problem

 

Well, it’s muddy so that’s a start I’m hearing this may be the year it comes back
