    Hi gang,
Been lurking for a while. Good to see a lot of the old STR's folks on here. A lot has changed for me over the last few years. Have not been riding much other than around the block with my now 9 year old and 7 year old.

Excited to get my kids on the dirt. With that said, my 9 year old is ready to move out of her 20". I figured I'd move her straight to an XS 26" and skip the 24" all together. Not looking for anything newer. So long as it's in good condition, let me know if any of you have anything you are looking to get rid of.

Don't get me started. Guy came over to buy a $15 wheel and told me he didn't need the rotor so he was only going to pay $10.

    ....A $15 wheel.

It’s there.....but it’s not really there. The new owner hasn’t done anything with it since he bought it 2 years ago.

I go by occasionally just to point any new members over here. Often times It can go months without a new post.

    Welcome @solislbc
word of advice... be careful putting your little one straight to a 26" from 20". The large jump may scare her and or intimidate her. Pushing her away from the bike and not wanting to ride at all. Speaking from experience. Tried to go from 20" to 26" w/ my youngest. On the 26" he could barely touch the ground, on his tip toes.. He didn't like that, thought he would fall when time to stop. Basically refused to ride it. I caved a few weeks later and got him on a 24". Night and day difference, he loves his 24" bike. Now he wants me to buy him a FS bike, so he can ride like Dad. Good luck with your search for the right bike.

you bring up valid points which I have considered. It’s great feedback that validated my concerns. I’ve also been looking at the gt lola in a 24”. Relatively inexpensive but enough quality there to ease her in to mtb.

Consider buying used? That is what I've done for both my boys. Was able to find used bike for my oldest that had about 10 miles on it. Saved a few hundred. And, for my youngest I got him a well used bike that looked like it have been dragged down a dirt road. However, it had excellent components and was in top notch working condition. It was just ugly to look at. And, when it is time to sell you can usually sell for what you paid for it. Or, just a little bit less. Good luck!

24" bikes are legit. That's the first size that really starts to be able to roll over stuff.
Finding one that isn't 50 lbs of overbuilt metal and useless fork is the hard part.

Wow where does the time go?
I haven't seen alot of these names for....12 years?
I am not in SoCal anymore. Moved the family near Yosemite about 11 years ago but stayed in Orange for work.
After 10 years of commuting over 500 miles every weekend, I called it quits bout 7 months ago and moved to be with my family.
The riding up here is awesome. Trails right outside my door.
If any of you come up to the Yosemite, Shaver Lake, Bass Lake area, and need a tour guide, let me know.

We stayed in Coarsegold last summer for 5 days and I didn't bring my bike cause I couldn't find any good intel on the local trails. Now I know where to go when we plan our next trip. Good on you for getting up there into God's country.

Picked up a hardly ridden 24” hot rock for 120 bucks today! It will do for now. Next bike will probably be 6 grand.
