Gauging Interest.....3rd Annual Hellacious Ride

The last few years we have done this ride(Big Bear Village to Redlands Airport via SART) on the Hell Ride date.....

HOWEVER

This year that date conflicts with the Wrightwood 50....so that is where I'll be.

Technically we can run the 3rd Annual Hellacious Ride on any day.

So trying to see what the interest would be for these dates:

11/2

I know @DangerDirtyD is doing his version on Bike for Bender/Hell Ride date, so that would be an option for some of you.

Thanks. Love the idea, but it's just outside of my ability level. If I am able to ramp up prior to October, would be a lot of fun. If allowed, I could jump on somewhere between mile 27 and Hangar 24.

It's predominately DH....with some climbing. You don't get from the top of the mountain to the bottom of the mountain going uphill.

 

Much easier than it looks. I get more worked doing the Post office loop and Southfork out and back.

 

I'm the guy that crashes out on the plain-Jane Hell Ride...

 

Do it on the 12th. I have a wedding to go to and need an excuse as to why I can't hang for this ride

 

I got cut from the team for this ride last year.

 

I'm interested. I'm busy on 10/19. 11/2 would be better, I may be able to swing 10/12 but not sure.

I love the idea of this ride because it’s so close to home and those trails are . But I’d possibly need a bailout option and I think the whole point of this ride is to suffer a hell like day on the bike, am I right
Also my son is getting married the wknd of Oct 18-19

 

Shhhhhhh.......don't tell anybody my secret, but this isn't a sufferfest. It's just many hours in the saddle. It's just a play on the B4B Hell Ride.

 

So would our Skyline pace be too slow to finish this chunk of a ride in a decent time?

 

I'd possibly be in for this if it works with schedule. I keep telling myself I need to push some bigger rides. I'll ride sweep on the climbs..

 

Things are going bat sh!t crazy at the shop so I don’t have a preference and will figure out a way to make whatever date work.

 

The Skyline climbing pace was fine.......it's different since there is sooooo much more DH.

There are only 3 sustained climbs:
1. BB Village(Knickerbocker to Grandview) 4.7 miles / 850' / :40-45 mins
2. Middle Control Rd. to the Hwy 2.6 miles / 650' / :35 mins
3. Thomas Hunting Grounds to Morton Peak 1.6 miles / 600' / :25 mins

Otherwise there are a series of shorter punchy climbs.

 

As long as we're fast enough to make it back to Rocky's before 5:00.
