Surprise nobody's been talking about this. I know we have riders who live in these areas. How's it going? Especially some of the trails in these areas

Was surprised as well it was so quiet. Currently without power, and internet more or less. Was over around Cheeseboro Canyon (absolute chaos of a freeway/road situation) this morning and the whole area looked blanketed by smoke so hopefully fingers crossed. Also trails in Malibu like backbone might be in the path of the fire.

I have been watching since 5am. Took a break to go ride Chantry... Chesebro was burning this morning when I first turned on the TV. The fire jumped the 101 at Liberty Cyn and has been on a run to the Pacific via Malibu Creek State Park. The fire also jumped Las Virgenes to the east and that means Millennium trail will probably be affected.
While the loss of the trails is lamentable, remember that people are losing everything, the fire crews are risking everything, and the wind just keeps blowing.

It's been pretty chaotic at the West End of Simi Valley. Mandatory evacuations have people going berserk. Of course you have all the looky-loos that want to just stop in the middle of the street and take pictures while everyone else is fleeing from their homes. I could see the ridge was on fire last night but never thought it would come down the hill against the wind. This pic is current and there are constant flare-ups.

The brewery is in the middle of the city, if it burns. ...another Santa Rosa type event.
Paradise is a little mountain(foothill) town. Very sad, and many elderly, I fear the number of lives lost.

I just took this from a customer's backyard. It's less than a 100 yards away.

I’m with my step dad now, his parents home in Malibu was destroyed as well as every other home in the vicinity. They only had time to get a few animals out.. f@cking tragic.

What a heavy day yesterday. We live off of Mulholland in Calabasas, and up pretty high with a view facing North. We had a good view of the fire from when it started all the way until it jumped the freeway and started spreading into Agoura, Malibu, etc. We were pretty much due South of it, and as it marched South the winds also pushed it West, so diagonally away from us. Thought we'd seen the worst of it in our area, but then around noon it REALLY kicked back up closer to where it started and made an unexpected push towards us. Had the perspective inducing experience of packing up valuables with a fire bearing down on us for the second time in three years. Got to watch some tanker drops out the window. By the time we evacuated it seemed like we were out of any imminent threat due to helpful (for us) winds, and some serious ass-kickery by the fire fighters. Looking at the map, seems like literally everything that I've been riding will have been destroyed or adversely affected. Obviously that's the least important aspect here, but but gave me some pangs nonetheless. Hope everyone on here is safe.

Thanks for your kind words, thoughts and prayers my friends.
My grandparents ranch was a really cool place, my grandfather was retired mounted LAPD, He and my grandmother collected and rented out western theme movie props and also the ranch and barns were used for movie and magazine shoots(Playboy etc). He and my grandmother have passed, but my aunt and her husband lived on the property and ran the business somewhat, along with an animal rescue, they’re both attorneys. Thank God they’re safe, but most of the animals didn’t make it.
    Stay safe out there people.

How horrible. So sorry for the personal loss and tragedy of these terrible fires. I cannot imagine the pain, be it experienced by human or animal.

Think of my "like" as a statement of support, and not a like.

I feel for you. We've gone through it twice too and it is a weird feeling to prioritize your memories, valuables, medicine etc. Hectic, frantic, harried - you name it. I hope your home survived unscathed.

My uncle sent these pics of whats left of the Rickards ranch. So grim!
I know my family is/are(?) not the only ones who lost a home etc...my heart goes out to those who are suffering loss right now. I think it’s @SnakeCharmer and @Runs with Scissors who remind us that “things can be replaced, people can’t”.

    The devastation is surreal. :(

While my wife and I were on "date day" today, her phone kept ringing with news of yet another employee who lost everything. And, it seems, they are the lucky ones. The loss of life... I have no words for it.

According to a burn area map I looked at earlier, Backbone from Kanan to Corral is gone, Backbone from Kanan to around where Yerba Buena crosses it is gone, and Cheseboro is gone.

I hope the map is “inaccurate”.

So sorry to hear about your family's loss. Pics like this kill me. You can almost feel the memories that happened around the fireplace, and seeing it juxtaposed with the devastation around it.......brutal.
