It is a weakness. I removed them. I go from trying to share my point... to trying to drive it home.

A leader leads from the front. A tyrant drives from behind.

No worries, Greg. Your points are well taken and I'm passionate about it too.

But I also like Mikie's rules of engagement and hope we all come out of this friends, because I really like those posting pro-Ebike views here.

This thread takes so many diversions. Now the bible and mans weaknesses. Where will this go next. I am done, I have expressed my view of leaving the decision up to the local land managers. I have ask for tolerance in allowing those without the capabilities of youth to still get out and play. Until you have walked in another mans shoes you go not know the reasons why we do what we do. I suppose it is just hard to be tolerant and accepting of things new and in my case harder to accept getting old and the loss of abilities to do things I once loved to do.

I can no longer do the things that I could do when I was 30. So what? I compete against myself. At 70 I hope to still be able to push myself to be all the 70 year-old that I can be. Hopping on an e-bike to do the same trails I could 20 years prior? Why don't I just hire a limo. Same difference.

This is my own personal philosophy. Truth is, I ride most trails by myself, though some people say I shouldn't. But when I am back in the mountains, it doesn't really matter. I cannot explain what mountain biking is to me that people who ride e-bikes will understand. Again I come off as sounding condescending. But the reality is that there are so few wild spaces left in the world, and one of the only barriers is the physical exertion required to visit them.

Maybe you could get us a tandem and be my major stoker? That would be very helpful and will work for me and you would get that much stronger.. And yes a town car may be in my near future if I want to keep working.

Better yet... take up canoeing. I yearn for a great trip up in the boundary waters in northern Minnesota. Then, when you get tired, you just rest. Get tired on a mountain bike, and you roll backwards :)

I'm also game for a kayaking trip around Catalina...

I understand where you are coming from, I have done a couple epic rides that I would always remember, later on I have traced the route by car and is not the same. It's moment of shear perseverance that makes it special. Would I want to do it every time I hop on a bike? once is enough for me and that's where this ebike thing becomes interesting to me.

Enjoy this site since everyone is an MTB enthusiast, and responds politely to issues. Only thing to add is that e-biking is a different experience, one that is enjoyable to me. This weekend we're riding JO for the first time (and first shuttle after 35 years of MTB). Expect to have the same sensation from the diversity (not the perfect word, but you get the idea).

I am sure Bruni is using the pedal assist as part of his rehab so he doesn't overdo it.

Perhaps it would be easier to just sit still, and use batteries to rotate the world to where you want to go?

I just wonder how long that bicycle chain will hold up to all that power?

Just because it has pedals, does not make it a bicycle.

Obviously a moped or motorcycle. The chain is perfunctory since the wheels power the vehicle without output from the rider; doubt there's much tension on the chain unless the rider pedals without either motor.

Shhhh... it's an e-bike. It was created for 80 year-olds who want to go mountain biking, but can't. At least that's what the marketing material says... and I ALWAYS believe the marketing material!

Ooh! This thread is still open! EeeeeeBikes! EeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeMmmmmmbikes! La la la la la!

J/K...I don't like Ebikes for MTB. They're great for commuting and running errands and hauling chainsaws, pulaskis, shovels, etc. to remote trail segments, but they're :poop: for MTB. What do you all think?

I think I can't wait for the next beat down in the woods from pedaling my bike uphill until I have to get off and push. Being the motor is underrated. Why does the Taoist smile when he drinks the vinegar?
