You may notice that in the Light Blue Navbar above there is now a link to the imtbtrails calendar.
This add-on will create a fully integrated Calendar system based on thread information. Each calendar entry links back to the thread it was created from.

Now we can place any events that are coming up on our calendar. As well, in the very near future there will be a sidebar on the forum main page that will show upcoming events...

I will be posting here how to enter the info on a post, once I fully understand it. Then
I will create a "How To" Post for this...

How to "Add" and event is via "Thread Tools".
Thread Tools is located over to the right above the "Reply" link. It's next to "Watch Thread" (let me know if you do not see it, it's a toggle in the permissions for our members).
Clicking on the drop down arrow should provide an "Add Calendar" option. An "Add Thread to Calendar" Pop up will give you the variables to set a date on the Calendar that is linked back to the post your are posting it on. Therefore you want to put the details in on your post. That should get this started. Let me make sure all the permissions are set so you can see the calendar....

So I have added an event to the Calendar which links to this Post: (Hilighted in red only to catch your attention)
Event: Added Calendar to imtbtrails Forum
    When: Today
    Where: From my Home Office
    Start Time: Midnight last Night
    :bang:
    Estimated Ride Time: Fo-Evah!

Now keep in mind this Post could be an uploaded Event Poster, or just all the details that you may have cut and pasted from the Event Website. (Just giving you some ideas . . . :))

Finally! This is what I wanted on imtbtrails!

Hey, Mikie. Good work on getting the calendar going. It's something that I missed on that other site. I don't see any events added, or how to add events, but I didn't look long. As for thread tools, I see watch/unwatch, but that's it. As far as I can recall, that's the only thread tool that I ever use. I'm running the latest versions of Safari and Chrome, and the behavior is the same for both.

It shows up on a thread you start... but not on threads others start. Which makes sense. I'll test by adding my upcoming Moab trip to the calendar.

EDIT: Works like a champ! See Sep 4th on the calendar.

Yep, makes too much sense! Threads I started have the thread tool and calendar option. (cannot find the dancing banana or eggplant emot)

Now that this is "Game On".
It may be important to consider in the initial 1st post that links to a Calendar event:
    • The immediate information for the Event so the information is readily available to the seeker
    • A Link to the Event Website (if available)
    • For the graphically inclined, this could also be an uploaded poster
    Thanks guys, this is awesome!

    Hey Everybody!
I often get PM's on how to figure out where and who is riding where for the weekends.
To be honest, I despise the Who's Riding Where??? thread as I don't want to have to sift through a bunch of Hooligan derailment to find out who is actually riding where.

We then created the The Post Your Ride Here... NO DERAILMENT Thread and naturally it get's derailed all the time, even by the people who asked for it.

I actually "did" put a plan together for that quite a while ago, and while SOME PEOPLE give me Sh!t about it the Ride Invite Form in Trailhead is super easy and asks 5 simple questions. Yes there are a ton of options after that but those are just options, not required.

Another way we set up so you could quickly find rides on days you are looking for company is the Calendar. Calendar link is located in the light blue navigation bar below the imtbtrails logo and header image.

You have to post up a new thread and be the originator to have access to add it to the Calendar. But it gives at a glance on the Calendar what is happening on any given day.

So the best scenario for clear opportunities to ride with company on the Forum is to create a new trailhead invite, answer 5 questions everyone would want to know anyway, then add it to the Calendar. The only bummer is the form does not reveal the "Thread Tool" while creating the invite. Post it up then hit edit and add it to the Calendar. Because people do not add their invites I often do it for them later.

    Help me...... to help you!
    Ha hah!
    That is all!
