I wasn't sure where to post this so I thought I would start it here...
Seems like bike parts (more in particular consumables like tires and brake pads are getting VERY pricey, and hard to find.

@Voodoo Tom was in search of some 27.5 Rekons yesterday, so we both started surfing our usual places and then began spanning outward. First off they were just plain hard to find and when you did find them they were priced anywhere from $50 up to $85 bucks a tire! I think the tires on my Honda run about the same. Ridiculous.

As well I need to stock up on Shimano Brake Pads and they seem over the top as well, upwards of $25 bucks a pair.

    Yeesh!

For brake pads, TruckerCo is your friend. $26 for 4 sets. I hear you on the tires. I just paid $72 for a 27.5×2.6 for Jennifer's bike.

Scarcity. No one rides 27.5 anymore.

On a related note, a guy came down T and A here in laguna right after me and said he caught his balls on his rear tire of his Hightower on part of the descent. I looked at my 27.5 and said - I don’t have that problem.

but I digress - yes all bike parts are hard to find and expensive.

I’m used to running Shimano Resin pads....so far the closest that Trucker Co. has ....semi-organic...:are noisy.

Look for Jagwire Sport pads(light blue).

Yeah tires are getting too expensive. Shopping around as has been mentioned can get those prices down. Planning ahead and getting the while you can helps.

so far I’ve been able to find everything I’ve had to search for.

Haven't checked recently, but a couple of months ago my son procured Maxxix tires from Chain Reaction for a very reasonable price. Also I purchased resin pads for my wife's Shimano brakes through ebay for about $5 per pair and she loves them (120 pound grandma review though).

Bikeinn has great prices... And shitty reviews! I took a chance when I bought the Specialized pants. Everyone in the states was out of stock. They had them, and proceeded to ship them by rowboat, and then by overland donkey. It seemed longer than 7 weeks, but that's all it was! :Roflmao

I think they are based in Spain...

You can find the Trucker pads on Amazon as well as a whole bunch of knockoffs. When everyone was out of Shimanos, I ordered some. I actually like them, but don't ever get them wet. Trust me. :stop: Gekors is the name... Nowhere near as good as Shimano, but I haven't died yet.

I prefer organic pads as well, but have used TruckerCo and Disco Brakes for sram brakes.
For Shimano, non-finned organic pads at Jenson used to be $8 but now showing $12.

Also, I now have Magura and will def get some Jagwire organic pads for them. Thanks for the tip!

I *was* buying Maxxis Aggressor, DHF and DHR for less than $55 here in SoCal for the longest time. Way cheaper than Schwalbe and Bontrager tires. That being said, you guys should all do a group buy for tires from a German site. You'll save some serious coin. Our group bought about 14-16 tires a while back. I paid less than $40 for a DHR and $53 for a 2.6 Bontrager. When I was running Continental's, I was paying $30 a tire.

Brake pads are another story, especially if you run 4 piston Shimano. What used to be $23-25 max are $46 at Backcountry. I found them in Germany for $28 but they were on backorder for "up to 20+ weeks". I later found the pads on PB for $30 a set. I also scored a deal on some other stuff that I had my daughter in Germany buy and ship to me to avoid the embargo.

For me, my "go to" brake pad has been the JO2A & JO3A Shimano Ice Tech Resin Pads with Cooling Fins.

I’ve been planning a new bike build, but I don’t think it will be done anytime soon now. With all these shortages along with lack of sales on what parts I want, I need to start now so that it’s done by next summer...if I’m lucky

Germany for Schwalbe, Conti, and Maxxis tires... definitely a savings. Works out to around $40-50 a tire. But as mentioned, plan ahead as it is a looooong wait for shipping. Always 100% quality product though. Used to be able to get SRAM parts as well, but they no longer ship to U.S.
