All rumor, but the possibilities are pretty cool... My immediate thought was that it would only work in areas with cell coverage, but the article mentions a "mesh device" strategy, as well as text over GPS...

My wife has one of the first generation watches, and she uses it every day... mostly for work. I did not see the attraction, but a device like the one described would probably catch my eye.

Reading the article, my first thought is "I've fallen, and I can't reach my beer."

Apple gives me the same warm and fuzzies as Specialized. They hold things too close to the vest, and they want way too much money. Here's to hoping someone brings them to their knees.

We already have many options for notification in case of accident, I think. If Garmin incorporates it into their 900 Gnarly Device I'll buy it. :)

I don't know... A device that monitors your vitals and that you wear all the time? I'm not sure any other company is positioned to pull that off.

And of course they won't store, save, process, sell or use the data or aggregate data for any reason other than purchaser intended.

Yep...Apple is like your creepy uncle. Whose adult underpants suddenly and inexplicably fall off...

Except that I'm totally on their side vs the FBI.

    But that's not shiny! :D

I get where you guys are coming from... I'm the guy who ditched Windows in 1995 and ran my own custom Linux for a decade or more. I thought I was cool when I had to compile my own software and write my own modem scripts! I got soft... Now I just want shiny stuff that works. :whistling:

So you're still not using Winduhs...? :Roflmao

But I admit Windows 7 does a pretty darn good job. I still have it on my desktop confuser.

I haven't used Windows on a daily basis since Windows 98... I bought a Mac in 2003, because it ran a form of UNIX. The Mac side grew on me, but I still run Linux on a few machines.

My kid, however, " had" to have a Windows install to play games. I caved...
