12 Hours of Temecula... June 25, 2016

The course profile is up for the June race, and it looks to be tamer than the last course. The last course killed me on the single speed, and all I could think about was sushi after 60 miles or so.

9.29 miles and 921 feet of elevation gain... As opposed to 9(ish) miles and over 1200 feet of gain according to my Garmin for the January course.

Dam! It's on my anniversary. The ONE day when the world must stop spinning. I am out.

 

There is a note on the Garmin page that says there may be changes. I'd bet that's change #1.

 

Slightly shorter and slightly more climbing... The route was taken down, and is back up now. 8.68 miles and 988 feet of gain.

I really need to pre-ride this time!

 

Considering signing up for the 12 h solo, probably beginner category as I really just plan on racing against myself. @Faust29, is it that important to pre-ride the course? I figured that since you are doing multiple laps that after the first few you would have it pretty dialed down, or is there something I am missing?

 

I've done several so far, and haven't pre-ridden any. In the last one, though, the course killed me on the single speed...

I'm hoping to pre-ride this one, so I know what I'm getting into on the SS, and can hopefully plan better.

No need to pre-ride....you have 12hrs to figure the course out.

I have pre-rode all the courses for the 3 races I did....but it really didn't change anything. The only info it gave me ahead of time was knowing what sections were gonna hurt and what sections were REALLY gonna hurt.

Just take it easy the first few laps and see how it pans out.

 

This is the same weekend as the kid's HS graduation party....I dunno if the stars will ever align for me to do this.

 

My in-laws will be in town. I may stay and do the 7 days of Temecula.

 

Weather forecast: Mostly sunny. Highs around 97°F. West wind 4 to 12 MPH.

I did the 6 hrs 2 men team.... As I recall, it wasn't that bad (two weeks remove).
We ended up doing 7 laps. I finished our last last with about 5 second before the cut off. HUGE adrenaline rush.

I'm filling a little burned out..... No real racing is scheduled before the last two non dot races.
I'll probably do the Big Bear thing, but I wouldn't be "racing" it.
