A long time ago, in a ski area far, far away.. a couple Mammoth locals took Jere Burns (aka Chet Atkins^^) backcountry skiing on Mammoth Crest, near Duck Pass. My friend Mike and I were skiing a chute we called the "Devil's Dogleg" and Jere showed up, looking lost. His "guides" apparently left him out there and he didn't know the area. We skied him back to civilization and he had us over for a beer afterwards. Super nice guy.

 

I find it interesting as hell to watch the progress on the new harbor HQ and City Hall next door. The coordination involved to make it happen on schedule is mind-boggling!

There ain't no stinking birds there. Just rats with wings.

 

100 yr. old fruitcake found at the south pole. I know of a fruitcake I'd like to see dropped off down there.

 

Birds that are considered non-native species such as the House Sparrow and Euro Starling are not protected, and many groups of hunted or game birds including ducks, geese, doves and many shorebirds are subject to limited protection and can be hunted in season.

Forget about the birds:

 

We had the worst pigeon problem IN our open air warehouse some years ago. Dirty birds. A falcon occasionally would show up and eat a few so they'd leave for a few days, then come back.

A pellet gun in the early morning though.... Only a few victims and they remember. Haven't been back in years now.

I felt bad, but get crapped on enough times and something has to happen!

 

They make excellent decoys for pick-pocketers in town squares and tourist areas.

 

When I first met Jennifer I made a comment about birds being flying rats. She told me to never say that in front of her mom. She loves birds. Of course I did once on accident. Her whole home is decorated with bird "Sh!t"! Figuratively speaking of course.

I work in a 14-story building that has numerous ledges and assorted flat spots. More often than you'd suspect, a pigeon wing comes spiraling down from on high. The hawks around here eat well, and the rats with wings are too stupid to leave.

And they compete with the differently domiciled for scraps.

 

A real, prime-time tv ad for internet service last night. I call my wife (non mtb'r) in to look, and she immediately said "what's up with that seat?" And she walked away saying "low budget commercial".

Depends on how high the resolution. Best I could do is comparable to N64 graphics.

 

I need at least 10 megapixels under current conditions. That imagery is pretty cool though.

Thanks but that's the pole three spans to the east, and that photo was taken in April 2017.

 

If I remember I might be able to shoot it on the way home.
