It's about the destination for me anyway.
Like @UPSed said, it's another means to socially connect with other riders. I've used the Strava flyby feature to see what other route variations there are in areas that I ride.

 

I'll probably hit 600,000 by the end of the year, which is really good for me... I keep thinking back, though, to what it took for one of our forum regulars to hit the 1,000,000 mark a couple years ago. Not sure I'll ever get past the level I'm at.

 

Floop units. My typical ride is 1.42 Floop units.

 

Amanda Coker has 50,000 miles this year, for about 2'/mile!

I'll take your 600,000' over her 50,000 miles.

 

I agree, in 2015 I did that elevation in 1.5 months.

 

Her personal story is more interesting than her rides! I'd be in an asylum if I did her loops...

I just signed Jennifer and I up for our local Share the Road Ride for next Saturday. Looks like I better get some climbing on the MTB in this weekend.

 

19 rides a week.. holy guacamole! That’s like 2.7 rides a day.

 

That wouldn't be fun for me........ I'll probably burn out in 2-3 weeks.

 

Make stuff up. That works too.

 

I commute, that's 10 right there. Now I'm about to head to Irvine...

 

Mine went up by a hair today. Still won't be over 100 ft/mile.

 

I normally do well on the weekly climbing list. This week we all lost to the Snow Summit chair lift.

Turn off the Garmin on the way up.

It is from resuming the ride at the top of the lift, instead of creating a separate ride for every lap down the moutain. The Garmin/strava device doesnt care that it took you milliseconds to cover a few thousand feet, they need to add a shuttle-mode feature, so that lift rides dont get added into the total.

Edit: Nevermind, they dont stop their strava, and said user got a Personal Best for riding a chair, wtf.

Yeah that's weakness of Strava on my desktop SW I just manually 0 out the lifts... Strava painful / can't do
