I DIDN'T Ride My Bike Today, Cuzz....

The Ardent Race is good....but you have to do the work. It is not an automatic tire.

Without going over the top with a Minion, I am currently running the 2.35 Forekaster on the SS and really liking it.

 

Trail work. But, I did climb about 1000' hiking! With a pick and shovel.

 

Nope didn't ride today but I did a couple things I haven't done in a while. First I actually started my Jeep and pulled it out of the garage and drove it for the first time in almost 2 years. Fired right up on old gas and purred like a kitten cuzz it's a Jeep and not a Ford. Then I actually walked like 5 miles with the wife & dog even though my bikes aren't broken(longest five miles of my life). Actually enjoyed it besides it's too stinking windy to ride anyways.

I've thought many times about selling her off to fund a new bike but heck no it's cheaper to keep her.

 

Cuz my new pet worm. Funny how not being allowed to ride makes you want to ride even more than when you are just being lazy or busy.

 

Cuz........I HAAAAAAATTTTTTTTEEEEEEE the wind.

 

There is nothing I hate worse. I took Thursday off to get a ride in and cut it short due to the wind.

 

Road riding in the wind ain't so bad (as long as it's a head wind or a tail wind).

 

Head wind? Jennifer and I did a road ride once in this kind of wind. I think we were able to go about 5-6 mph into the wind in granny gear on flat ground. It sucked. However going with the wind we were in top gear. That was wonderful.

 

I'm with @mtnbikej and @UPSed on this. Wind sucks...er, blows...for riding.

Up in these here Lancaster parts we'd rarely ride if''n we didn't ride in the wind. There's even a Wind Festival up here that runs from 1/1 to 12/31 each year and has T-Shirts! We do like it when the Santa Anas blow out of the east because most of our climbs are to the west so we get a tail wind! Plus the SA's only blow about 16-20 mph instead our usual winds from the west which hit 30-40! That's why I always go up the pavement at P-12 and wherever possible!

 

My all-time wind beating was the 70 miles between Pueblo Pintado and Grants NM. Heading into Pintado, I knew what was coming well before I hooked south...nowhere to stop, nothing to do except fight for hours.

 

We hiked up Bergen Peak today. Such a bittersweet day. An area we love dearly but may not ride again for, who knows... It's a nice 9-mile round trip to the 9600' summit; cold and breezy today. It was fun to see all the familiar sections in the snow, and people and dogs out getting exercise, including a few MTBs on the lower trails. No bad days.

 

12 hr day at work yesterday, followed by another overtime Saturday....no likey not riding my bikey.

 

I didn't ride my bike today, and I don't want to talk about it.

 

But posting about it is okay?

 

I actually enjoy riding into a headwind as long as it is coming directly at me. It's really not much different than doing a monster climb on a mtn bike. Hurts so good.

Umm, I was just frustrated and didn't want to go into all my usual lame excuses like making money, lazy, tired, bored, I'm not a robot, I lost my after-work motivation, I gorged on chips and guacamole, it got dark too soon and I don't want to ride in the dark, or waaaaaaahhhhh(!)?

But I rode this morning so it's all good.

Because it was windy and we went for a family walk this morning and then Nick wanted to make a flame thrower. We recycled a bunch of stuff just sitting in the garage including an old camelbak', some leftover pvc pipe, an old rubber floormat, a 2 liter 7up bottle, leaky faucet supply line and broken hose nozzle.

Damn gopher better watch out now...
