Bad things would happen if you were to fall at that speed - or pretty much any speed over 40 mph. Not sure how she didn't.

Looks like a dual crown sus fork, a 26" front and 24" rear wheel, and one puny caliper brake on the rear, none on the front.

Edit: Guessed that before seeing the second article. 17" wheels is a surprise. I thought only 29ers could go that fast. I was right about the brake. The left hand lever was for the transmission.

 

I saw a different article earlier... The used 17" motorcycle wheels and tires. So much for 29ers!
