WTB: road bike for a friend, $500 range

a friend recently retired and picked up a cheap $40 fixie to cruise around the 'hood then discovered Strava and now he's riding every day 20-30 miles. He wants to take the next step to a geared bike. I don't know sizing for road bikes, but he's 5'5"-5'6". Thanks.

 

You probably need a 50 or 51cm road bike at that height.

 

I have a 52cm Felt F4....,it’s a geared frame, but we have it set up as a SS. My wife doesn’t ridebit now that she got r the CX bike.

I’d let it go $400.

 

Damn, I'm even tempted by that. I'm already thinking about converting my old steel bike to SS for commuting but then I don't have a road bike.

The red saddle is not included....as my wife wants to keep her women’s saddle.

I’ll also throw in the original chainrings 53/39 that have less than 100 miles on them.

 

Works for me. I was going to swap all my geared parts to it, convert my old steel to SS. This will be my first decent road bike. I've been doing all my climbing on my steel bike with a 52/42 rings!

Let me know when is convenient. I'm planning on doing cross in Griffith Park hopefully both days this weekend. I can swing by before or after the race, or figure out some other time. I'm not in a huge rush, whatever works for you.
