    Winter gloves.
Water proof, cold proof, wind proof, anti bulky proof.
Going down to a local bike shop to check out winter riding gear and on the list is mainly winter riding gloves.
The shop is a Specialized predominant shop and Specialized does make some nice riding gear.

@Voodoo Tom owns a pair of Specialized Deflect gloves and says he loves them!
@SnakeCharmer just purchased a pair of Specialized Elements, stayed cozy but also stated they are a bit bulky.

It seems that heat retention and waterproofing is leading the way as oppose to thick insulation of older technology. A fear I have is getting a winter glove that is not enough to ward off the cold, what glove is best for what temperature range? What is too much protection and becomes North Pole exploration gloves?

What’s your winter glove if you actually thought it out and bought some, and why?

Showers Pass gloves are breathable... and kept my hands warm and dry for the entire ride today in temps from 35-50.

They are not as waterproof as claimed, but they are still warm even when wet.

They only have one model... ;) Although now it comes in wool, also. I have the older Crosspoint, and they are usually about $40. Not bulky at all, breathable, and fashionable enough to wear off the bike.

Being a Canadian, you’d think he’d have winter riding dialed in already...

I have the Pearl model under that one... The Cyclone. It’s more of a mid weight glove, but is still toasty down to the upper 30s and water repellant. I carry them as a spare in case the Showers Pass get too wet. Didn’t need them today, but they were in the bag.

^^^ this! For me it’s always layers, just like you’d do for the body. A good baselayer like Merino wool or fleece with a waterproof or wind proof overglove(depending on conditions) . I’m surprised no one has mentioned Sealskinz, (although I haven’t tried them myself) I’ve heard good reviews. I currently use the Endura gloves and wear a fleece liner underneath.

I do regular gloves down to the high 40's.

From there I go to these:
    https://www.tasco-mtb.com/collections/mtb-gloves/products/dawn-patrol-double-digits-glove-black-hole
Which are good down to about 40....below that I start to get cold finger tips.

I have these when it gets under 40......but they don't work below 25:
    https://www.pearlizumi.com/US/en/shop/men/gloves/road/mens_pro_amfib_glove/p/14141512

I did just get a pair of the Showers Pass Crosspoint WP Knit.....they kept my hands dry and warm on the San Juan rain ride the other day, as well as down the mountain today.

I also have a pair of older Descente Fleece gloves/liners that I can put under some of the cold gloves I have.

Under 25* I haven't found anything that keeps my hands warm....without going to extremes.

I imagine the SP Crosspoint gloves could be used as a liner for some extra warmth.

Three years ago I was in Rei/Tustin, and saw some nice looking gloves on a j hook strip 60% off final clearance price. They were the Showers Pass Crosspoint Soft Shell Gloves. Like them a lot

Tasco (which we really like because of quality / fit / style/ customer service) on sale right now including gloves @mtnbikej mentioned above Dawn Patrol. I have a pair and they are a nice mix of warmth, comfort and control match well with the Dawn Patrol socks. These are not 0deg gloves but awesome for most socal winter times.

Probably not for the high-powered riders here, but Specialized gloves with an "over three-finger mitten" work well (for my wife and me). Don't know whether they still make them since ours are about 6 or 7 years old and too warm for all but a couple of really cold weather (can't remember the exact temps) rides.
