Who's Riding Where???

I would pay $5 to participate in Herzie vs Runs bike rides as long as professional medical assistance would be forbidden. For example, Runs with Scissors would do a 15-mile/2,800' ride/HAB of TERCL with 5-Oaks and Car Wreck thrown in to help express Herzie's point that Runs' bike riding is mild sauce. Then (and this must come second because if it were first, the contest would end there) Herzie would do a 30-mile/5,000'ride of MTT to GMR to Mt. Baldy Village, only to keel over in withering cramps somewhere along GMR without ever making it to the Village. Runs could photograph the suffering and post in the I'm riding My Bike Now (Live and Direct) thread for our entertainment. If I had to pick a survivor, I would bet on Runs with Scissors, but I would rather ride with Herzie, especially in Laguna.

And yes - in my present condition, my quads would seize at exactly 2400' of climbing. @Runs with Scissors would win this competition.

In my best condition, I would cramp at about 3800' of climbing, so I would still lose.

 

I believe the offical moniker is "TECRIL." "The Endless Cholla Rock-It Loop."

But what do I know. I've never ridden it. Who knows if I ever will? Not even I know that.

But a GMR - GRR - MBV - TON - et cetera, and return, is a given.

 

Whiting-STT- Luge- Whiting tomorrow (Sunday 10/23)? I may push beyond the Luge to a spot I call CTA (Chris' Turn Around) that will put the ride right around 3000' of climbing.

Anyone interested in accompanying me? Start time is negotiable.

EDIT: Just learned that rain may change these plans. Ahh well, that makes it a game-time decision then, doesn't it?

EDIT EDIT: Any9one know if it rained much in Whiting? I still want to head there, but I do not want to contend with a muddy Mustard. OC Parks Whiting site is silent on the matter (no rain closures or alerts).

Talopop. 1.5 section of trail I've ridden past dozens of times and had no idea it was there.

 

I thought it was hikers only. Please report back what your experience is.

 

Well, I found out a few things. It's called Talepop, my friends ride it at night and it doesn't say anything about MTBs. Just no beach cruisers.

I'm riding my car to my school to begin the four days of fun known as a WASC visit. That's where 6 "colleagues" from other counties band together to dig through our school and find out all the things we are doing wrong and tell us to fix it.
