Thunderstorms now through tonight around north Tahoe. Dirt be nice in the AM…A repeat of Deer Creek with fiends seems to be developing.

@Stkx66, mega-late notice, but you’re welcome to join; I see you’re down in South Lake. The weez and @kingaucho seem to be up for it tomorrow. If you want to drive up we can kick the time back some. There might be morning showers anyway, so maybe good plan.

 

Thanks for the offer Mike but I’m going to stay local. My goal tomorrow is to ride Saxon trail ( Mr. Toads wild ride ) a clockwise loop from our VRBO house. 15-20 miles. I’ve been planning my rides based off your intel/ input. I really appreciate it. Thank You Mike!

I had grand plans today... But after banning the spammer for hawking snake oil to cure back pain, I find myself with a twinge or two in the lower back. If I were superstitious...

We'll see if the traditional western Aleve does the trick... And coffee.

 

Tomorrow: Pedal down the Tahoe Rim Trail from Mikie Watson Lake until I find my hiker friends. They've nearly finished the full Rim Trail, 165 miles. Proud!!!

 

Starting Colorado Trail bikepack tomorrow around 4pm from Denver. Follow along....

I flaked on @SnakeCharmer today... So I'm probably going to do a similar route to his ride tomorrow. Up Lower Sam Merrill and the Mount Lowe Road to Eaton Saddle (11/4000). If the timing works, I may detour for a break at the Cosmic Cafe. From there, it will be down to Red Box (snacks available?) and then down the Gabrielino to JPL.

Now it makes sense as to why I was getting texts at 9:00 this morning.

Yup, the energy drink shot me up the climb.

 

If tomorrow wasn’t my anniversary, I’d join you. Sounds like a very interesting route.

 

I'd not get going too early if I were you because I arrived at Redbox at 8:30am today and the snack shop/museum was closed.

EDIT: Nope. Decided to let the ocean do without me today, and dragged out my bike. It's been a couple of weeks. But unlike surfing, bike riding skills return in an instant!

It's going to be hard to beat our 25th where we stopped for Arby's in Richfield UT, then got a bug infested motel room in Cedar City! I set the bar high on that one!

 

Watching @evdog 's tracker... There may be a glitch. Pretty sure he's not averaging 200 mph.

 

Maybe he fell of the edge of a Mesa 20 feet into his ride.

 

I think he started in Denver, so no mesas or exposure for a while. Not until Georgia Pass into Breckenridge.

 

Flight from Durango to Denver?

 

The GPS track is wonky… it straight lined the course so far.

But it looks like he’s moving still.
