Okay, I'm not mtnbikej . . . but if you want a fun, relaxing, scenic ride, go up Zion Canyon to the end and back.

If you ride from St George it would be even better, but that's on you....:Roflmao

To each their own, of course. I've done it also, and the wife and I really enjoyed it. It's something different and allows another look at that canyon, outside the shuttle bus. Worth it in its own right.

If you haven't done Gooseberry....make the time.

Barrell Roll, is short but really fun. You can tack on from the same parking lot, Rim Reaper/Rim Rambler/Rim Rock Loop.

Zen...I think you've already done that one......but it's a fun one to mix in with Bear Claw Poppy. A lot of chunk, followed by a lot of flow.

I'm sure there are other trails, these are the only ones I have experience on.

If the weather is good and it hasn't rain recently, you can head out towards Hurricane and do the Hurricane Cliffs(JEM, Goosebumps, Cryptobionic, Dead Ringer, More Cowbell).....these are all more flow type trails, but fun.

These are the rides we did last December.

if hitting barrel roll you gotta throw in Sidewinder and Suicidal Tendencies perhaps Black brush. This area is great cause it allows a pit stop at parking lot before heading out to the Rim runner area.

Planning on a loop in my backyard at 6:50 tonight. Up May canyon behind Veterans park in Sylmar and down Wilson canyon to finish behind Olive View medical center.
Should be romantic and lonely up there tonight. Just me and the occasional fox, skunk or tarantula :inlove:

I don't have "routes" per se and never ride the kind of mileage you put in but the easier way to get big mileage in St George (though not very challenging) is to ride the Bearclaw Poppy stuff. You can ride that all the way out to Stucki Springs and beyond to Cove Wash where you can then hook into the trails over in Santa Clara for more challenge (Barrel Roll, Precipice, Suicidal Tendencies). https://www.mtbproject.com/trail/918419/barrel-roll-lollipop Another simpler route would be to ride the Hurricane Rim/Goulds/JEM loop. Too XC for my tastes but 24miles and mostly ST. https://www.mtbproject.com/trail/4091943/hurricane-rim-loop-imba-epic Of course, Gooseberry Mesa is the crown jewel and most people consider 15 miles to = 30. If you wind around enough on the mesa, you'll get a worthy workout. Make sure to find the Secret Trail. Very few people ride it. If it doesn't tire you out, go all the way down Gander and ride over to Wire Mesa as well. :D https://www.trailforks.com/region/g...vitytype=1&z=11.6&lat=37.13341&lon=-113.15857

That's it for "routes" but as far as "areas"....Little Creek Mesa for variety as long as you're okay on the cliff edge at times, the JEM trail as an out and back if you want to haul the mail coming down, Grafton Mesa for the gnar, Flying Monkey for the gnar-gnar and Nephi's Twist for some mega-gnar....and Church Rocks https://www.mtbproject.com/trail/3632371/church-rocks or Boy Scout Trails if it rains. Boy Scout Trails is great if you want to ride some chunk. https://www.utahmountainbiking.com/trails/quail-overlook.htm

Awesome! Not really looking for big rides. I'll save that for home. We just love to go out and explore when we are away from home. Some of those look like can't miss rides. So far I'm liking the Santa Clara area and Gooseberry which I have never done. Thanks for the input.

Aliso? LCWP? Both? 7:30? 8:00? 2:00? I'll decide in the AM.

I was thinking about bringing the fam up to Snow Summit for laps on Going Green, but website says temporarily closed as of Sept 7 due to USFS restrictions. :(

    Anyone know anything different?

Afternoons in our coastal hills are becoming very nice weather wise nowadays.

Rotating through El Moro, LCWP, Aliso, SCST... Plus some connecting dirt and trails

@bvader - I will be doing some of that myself - probably Aliso and LCWP. Not sure why you would want to connect to SCST from Aliso, but hey, whatever floats your boat!

3:00 pm. Gonna put in the miles as best we can. I need to redeem myself after my poor showing in Calabasas last weekend. (@Luis and everyone else was way too kind and accommodating, making sure I was gonna make it.) Coming back...coming back...
