Farq! I blew it when choosing my ride day. Feels like there's a party and I'm grounded.

Man, I so wish. To be kid free...... I've got to do the 10am dance rehearsal drop off for the rugrat. I owe you (and myself) an OC ride though. Let's ratchet up the communication about making that happen.

 

I need to re-assemble the Meg and do my back-to-back Rail vs Meg day soon. You should join me for that! You can bring both of your bikes.

I gave myself a deadline of October 26 to pull the plug on one of the bikes and sell it. That's the day (last year) that my stupidity hit full volume and put me into year-long existential angst.

 

You have so much to learn Grasshopper. I'm having a belated birthday brunch today and needed to be home by 10. What to do? Started out before sunrise and was cracking open my beer by 8:30.

 

It's always said, enjoy them when they're younger! Our middle son and his wife are moving to toronto in several days. The last week I've had a deep sad feeling remembering my little guy playing soccer, nerf battles in the house,etc. I love looking at all the pics, moments frozen in time.
I guess living in the present is something we all have to learn how to do better.

Day 2 of jury duty tomorrow is another bye. Rolling out into the mystic early to get the full coolness of the morning from here to there and back.

 

I love my kids of course but being an empty nester is cool as well. So easy to keep the house clean, utility costs down, the trash bin goes out once a month (if that) vs every single week. What did surprise me though is that I never thought I'd be excited about the grandparent deal until the kids were old enough for me to take them camping, fishing, riding....whatever. It turns out I was wrong about that as I miss my 19 month old granddaughter who lives in Germany more than I thought possible. I can't wait until they rotate back into the USA in 2021.

 

This Saturday 9/26 riding Wildwood Regional Park meeting at 7:30am. Possibilty of 2 part loop with first half up into Wildwood cyn then 2nd half if more miles are desired into Hill Cyn.

 

Romero Canyon. Thursday.

 

Santa Monica’s tonight. Planning on a 6:50pm start at the Caballero trailhead and riding up to the Nike base. Down Mandeville on the ridge and coming back up on the FR. Back through Farmers (dead car) and down Caballero to the car.
Want to ride down Sullivan canyon but not sure of the conditions

Last Saturday was a not so gentle reminder that I lost some fitness by just sitting at home and sulking

 

Sulking Sullivan suddenly saw some opportunity to ride during the week?

 

Yup and the air quality looks better in that part of the SF valley

No jury duty tomorrow! 3 days of reprieve. Gonna hit Powder Cyn early. This morning foot traffic around there was fully insane. Rode thru the clouds to TOW and down the single track to the rocky chute exit. Shot a jai lai pelota sized rock out from my front tire like a pitching machine and short hopped it off my shin. Instant hematoma, like Thai kick boxing shin to shin. Me no Jean-Claude von Dammit! Stopped to see the damage and as unlikely as it seems the rock was busted in half. Yeah, blixet scores a 10-8 round! Thought about turning around and heading for an ice pack, but decided hey I'm an iMTBer mamma jamma so what would Mikie do? Seeing as there was no Voodoo Tom to kiss my booboo I cinched up my chin strap and boogied on instead (kidding, kidding amigos). Just went downhill from there. But accentuate the positive says I. Any day not in a jury box and nursing mtb injuries instead is a good day.
