That connector trail up to Lowe from Millard is Lower Sunset Ridge, if I am understanding your description. That climb up Mt. Lowe fire road is BRUTAL. I have climbed it to Middle Merril and then dropped down there.

That's pretty hard core for just a "quicky morning ride before work".

 

I'm gonna go get dirty tomorrow with my goat!

The weather for days to come looks unbelievably perfect...

I'm thinking Bell Ridge to Dingdong this weekend. Let the deprived San Juan riders battle it out over there; go ride where "buff" is not a word that applies to the trail, ever. Up Trabuco from the wash or forest gate. Thinking of posting a TH ride but wanted to test the water. Post up if u feeling like some ridgeness and can hang for 4-5 hours, and most importantly, what day.

 

I'm going to try out the Boo Hoff trail near La Quinta. Looks like an accessible front range loop. Maybe twice?....?

 

Mt. High, most likely, with my 6 yo. What is ski week without skiing?

 

I will ride nearby tomorrow, mid morning like 9-noon I think. Gotta confirm that with my spousal unit.

 

After seeing some similar loops being planned over on the LCWP thread, I thought I'd throw this one out there. My schedule is too tight on Sunday, so I'm planning on a Joplin loop tomorrow morning. My plan is to start at Cook's around 8, ride over to the Harding trailhead, up Harding, hit Santiago Peak (if I feel up for it at that point), down Upper Joplin, Joplin to Old Camp to Luge back to Cook's.

I'm not planning on pushing too hard, but want to keep it moving without too many long stops. I've done a similar route once before and started cramping a little at the top of Joplin, so my goal this time is to have enough legs left at that point to enjoy the downhill. My only frame of reference for pace is the only other time I've climbed Harding and that was about 1:50 from the trailhead to 4 corners. I don't mind slowing it down a little, but I don't want to (can't ) push it too much faster. It looks like the route should be about 27.4 miles and 5,600'. Maybe a 5 hour outing (give or take a lot).

I have a little flexibility in the start time, so let me know if anyone wants to join and we can finalize the time (and make sure I don't get lazy and flake if I'm on my own).

 

I have to watch my son until about 10am tomorrow and then I plan on hitting Oaks. I'll be in the Sculpin jersey and cheeseburger socks

 

Plan on riding Blackstar to Motorway and then push up Maple Springs to 4 Corners. I'll be at the tree farm around 8-8:30. We can firm up the start time if anyone is interested in coming along.

 

Oil change for wife's car at sunrise ; pick up new recliner from warehouse at 10ish ; shuttle Barrett Stoddard with Da Booges around 1.

 

I'm gonna head West and hit some Backbone. Still unsure which sections, though. I guess it all depends on where my trucks steers me when I get into the area..

 

Decisions decisions. Word has it there is still a lot of mud/water on everything around here. No sense in riding if there's no chance of PRs or KOM'S.

I'll probably head over to Cheeseboro and check out the damage. From what I hear everything that's old is new again.

 

I was thinking about the Cheese too but it just doesn't have those magnificent views of the Pacific like the BB does.

Heck, you can just ride up over the hill from where you are to access the Cheese, right?

I would avoid anything at the main entrance or the lower end of the park (avoid Rock-It, Coyote Run, Lower Wood Canyon Road) until after 11:00 am. Parking and riding from Canyon Vista Park would work, if you stick with 5-Oaks, Lynx, Stair Steps, Car Wreck and that end.

 

Yeah. I usually just ride from home. Sometimes I'll meet my wife at the main parking lot (after riding from home) then do a ride with her. She's not into big dirt miles. Yet.

 

Going to hit the SOT off of Bouquet Cyn.

 

Between Bouquet and San Francisquito is the best.

At 5:59 ante meridiem, I will be riding from Anaheim to Long Beach. Gotta work tomorrow, weather is supposed to be gnarly-bitchin'; might as well kill two avians with one chunk of striated sedimentary matter.
