We've never done the whole trail, we would like to. Plan so far is park one car at the start of mill Creek rd. leave another car at glass rd, so ride down the fire road mill Creek rd. to the trail take it to southfork, return and head back to glass rd.

 

I think that's just the middle section, no?

Oh no, no, no, no guys. If you're gonna do the middle section you have to include the marvelous ST descend up behind the Post Office. That will drop you off on the fire road (Mill Creek/1N09) just a little ways above where you jump back on the trail to continue East toward Glass Road. It's an epic section of fun, the best part of the middle section of SART.

Why not make it a Post office to Glass Road and back instead of ending at Glass Road?

 

I think that's actually the plan.

So when you say park at glass rd do you mean by the bridge? If you do the post office loop then out to S.F. and back thats close to 30 miles. Is that your plan?

 

Hey Tom, I think it'll be similar to the ride we did last June with the whole group starting from the bottom of that fire road but this time I think we're starting from the top.
I'm down for whatever.

 

Yes we will have one car prkd. there on Glass rd. next to the trail and one up top of the beginning of mill Creek rd. next to hwy 38 where we will start our ride, drop down 3mi. on Mill Creek rd. hit the trail right hand turn ride on SART pass Glass rd. ride to southfork, then return end the ride at glass rd. To avoid climbing the 3mi. fireroad/Mill Creek rd. I haven't done the post office loop and heard it's a lot of fun!

Whatever time you want, if you wanna join, Tom or anyone. Joplin is extra chunky now, and a little overgrown but not bad.

 

Park at the top of Mill Creek at 38 as planned. Then pedal over to the Post Office/convenience store/diner and go up the fire road behind and to the right of there about one quarter mile. When it makes a hard turn to the right, the trailhead for a LOVELY descent down to Mill Creek fire road is on your right. Drop in on that, you won't be sorry. It's a much more fun way to get down the mountain. As I stated earlier, it dumps you out a short way above where the SART trailhead is off Mill Creek that veers off and up to the right as you descend.

 

From what I'm reading online directions and watching youtube vids I think why I haven't done it this way before, thanks!

Now thats what I am talking about 3 rides in one post! SART, Joplin, Aliso! Was hoping for something a little more local. These are great rides guys. Unfortunately I have to be in Banning to visit Dad by 2.

Anything else out there close to inland Empire?

 

You could easily do at least part of SART, then break away and head back to your car and then continue on to Banning to see your Dad. Heck, it's just around the point from there.

 

Okay then, skip the Luge and bail down Cadillac...and don't sleep in
