@Redman resparked an idea I had a while ago, and that was to ask imtb’ers to post a pick of their imtbtrails graffiti. Where did you “stick”, your imtbtrails sticker?

Hey just because you might be in the pic with an imtbtrails sticker, does NOT mean you stuck it there....:whistling:

The Yodler in Wrightwood. Great food and 805 brew on tap.

I went back a couple of weeks later and they removed the sticker. I called the owner out on it telling him he has those lame ass Sea Hawks stickers on the window but you pull a classy imtbtrails sticker??? He was speechless....

It seems innocuous at first blush, but I wonder if it's not a good association planting stickers on public and others' private property. Truthfully, it is graffiti, which (on public prop.) costs all of us tax money to mitigate. One property owner already took enough issue with it to remove it. Is it worth the risk of annoyance or worse?

I know lots of people do it. In affluent areas, they use designed graphics instead of rattle cans. I'd be happy to put 'em on my own property, but not elsewhere. (How does one obtain the mythical sticker?) Yep, I'm the devil's wet blanket trying to make everyone stop having fun. :cautious::unsure: Cheerio! :)

As long as said alteration does not diminish the character-defining features and/or values which contribute to the significance of said relic, as defined in California Code of Regulations, Title 14, Division 6, Chapter 3, Article 5, § 15064.5, a monitor would not be required to paste an iMTBtrails sticker on any such building, structure, or object. Impacts would be less than significant, and no mitigation is required [as far as historic integrity is concerned].

This is exactly where I imagined I would leave the sticker... Well, not in Oregon specifically, I need to think bigger.

In April I saw more trail markers in one month than I've seen in the last three years. Some are pretty damn hard to make out due to fading, peeling, etc. Especially the faster one rolls by. Some I had to circle back and confirm. Honestly, I would rather not have additional informationally-useless graphic elements to try to decipher quickly as I roll by.

I always marvel at the thought of people getting their supplies together for their nature outing, and saying "yep, got a few bright colors of Krylon, we're good to go." The thought of MTB riders loading up with stickers to do the same is, likewise, a strange thought.

Yep, wet blanket again...one that strives to LNT in the BC, one that picks up what others have left, eliminates graffiti (including stickers), and doesn't understand the need to squirt musk in the BC. But by all means, carry on with whatever moves ya...

But @mike, if you'd slammed some stickers on those posts, we'd know the best route!

Just kidding, I used to go bonkers on those rock piles people called "ducks" in the backcountry. IMO, they detracted from the experience. Kill on sight was my motto.

Some establishments invite customers to put up stickers related to action sports. Wahoos comes to mind. But I agree not to put a sticker on an establishment without permission.

    Stickers are white-guy graffiti.

I do like to have a sticker or two on my car to somewhat obscurely identify my sports "tribes" to which I belong. Only those in the know will know. Example - Channel Islands logo, but no words. Marzocchi trademark M. Grey Intense sticker barely perceptible on my rear window.

On the other hand, my wife has an "I am The Stig" sticker on the back of her minivan. She also loves ironic humor. It gets a lot of comments.

I put mine on my RTIC (Yeti rip-off) cooler with all my other MTB stickers. Now while I don't think you should be throwing stickers wherever you want, there are plenty of private establishments that encourage said behavior. Interesting that the graffiti/vandalism angle was brought up though...I don't think it would apply actually since nothing is permanently damaged. I know in 30+ years of police work, I never went to a radio call of illegal sticker placement. :sneaky:

I used to have a stack of stickers for our local advocacy group SDMBA, and would put them on summit register boxes. If you hiked Mt Whitney, Mt Elbert, White Mtn, San Jacinto or San Gorgonio you might have seen one before it got stickied over.

Order some Tailwind Nutrition, or, go on a bike ride with me.
Well, in this case meet me during walker time!
