Uh oh - the multiple brands thing will skew the results. I am curious how many of us are riding Maxxis on our mountain bikes, not gravel grinders or road bikes. Oh well, I didn't start the thread, so I'll just see where it goes. Can I vote for Maxxis twice if my two bikes have Maxxis?

My road bikes both have Continentals, and the mountain bike also has Continentals currently... But what about the 2 sets of WTBs that I can throw on? I may need to add an "other" vote.

No....actually it will be a true representation. Most of us have more than 1 bike. It cures the "i run these on this bike, and these other ones on this bike"

    Long time Maxxis fan here...

I have also tried Continental and Schwalbe the last couple years after finding deals. They've each been ok.

Seems like there are people out there who love every tire and will claim its the best - so my conclusion is that it doesn't matter what tire you run (unless its Nevegals) - if anything is holding you back, its probably you, not the tires.

I don't really have allegiance to a certain brand, have tried quite a few. I'd say, brand doesn't matter as much as a specific tire tread/casing/compound/weight/rolling compromise that works for me on the trails I like to ride. If I find something that works good I'll stick with it as long as I can find them reasonably priced, if for nothing else out of familiarity. But I'll try others in between, 'cause might find something better. I've got Maxxis on the bike right now, other Maxxi hanging on the wall with different widths, casings, compounds and wear, and a Schwalbe, Kenda (not nevegal) and Spec.

I've found, any new tire will usually out perform a 1/4 to half or more used one, sharp edges on the knobs and all. Seems like allot of comparisons are "I had x tire from x brand for x months and put on this new one from y brand and the new one of y brand is so much better". Maybe now, but when it's worn a little, hmm.... It's always hard for me (being a cheapskate at heart) to replace that tire that doesn't work great any more but visually has more tread life left.... but any new one is probably better, for awhile.

Before I knew any better, I pushed a Nevegal 29er tire around the Julian Death March course for 60 miles and 9,000 feet. I can't imagine running that tire anymore.

I love Maxxis tires like most people, but try out a lot of different tires, especially as of late. I currently have Vee Rubber Fluid 27.5 x 2.40 front and rear. I have a set of Pacenti Neo Motos and Trail Kings just lying around waiting to be put back to use.

If you took off the road tires and gravel grinder tires, I am guessing my 50% Maxxis estimate would be correct. Then can I get honorary designation as an absolute IMTB gear guru?

23 votes for Maxxis and 31 votes for something else. Not sure how that's 74%!
Total the reported percentages and you get about 175%

Am I just being really dumb? How can 23 be 74% of 54?

23 votes for Maxxis divided by 54 total votes = 42.6%

Schwables on the Ripley( hanz dampf & nobby nic both 29 x 2.35) and Bontrager's (xr4 & xr3 both team issue on the Kona).

Speaking of Schwables I just replaced the Ripley tires in prep for Kokopelli with exact duplicates of what was on there (29 x 2.35 HD & NN) cuz they just work on the Ripley. Problem is the replacements measure considerably narrow. Old nobby nic 2.390"wide & new 2.280". Old Hans Dampf 2.470" wide & new 2.310". Used calipers to verify but it wasn't necessary cause you could see the difference. These are exact replacements mounted on 26mm Id wheels inflated to the same psi. I don't know what gives but I liked the larger volume of the takeoff tires and will not be buying another set of Schwables when the time comes.

Is the percentage the number of respondents who voted that way, and not the number of votes per tire?

    Just guessing...

If that's true, then the other percentages would total 25.8%, yes? The other respondents total nearly 100%. Something's way wrong in the formula, or I'm dumb as a box of rocks.

Wait, now 28.1% (a few more votes for others have now been logged)

I don't think it is based on 100% of the votes. It looks as though it is only counting the 2 options with the most votes.

The total number of voters (not actual votes) is 38 so the % is using that as a denom..

The percentage is calculated off the number of people who voted (currently 38), but the table doesn't show how many people voted, only total number of votes.

edit... oops, cross post with cornholio

Yeah, the survey software is probably designed to show single-vote-survey results, so the multiple vote results looks a little wonky.
