Jennifer surprised me with this Scorpion bike stand yesterday so I put it to use and lubed my chain. BTW my bike is clean so I'm guessing it's okay to wrench on it? :gag:

Not riding today, so puttered around bikes. Which I enjoy almost as much (maybe as much). Swapped out the front caliper bolts and spacers on the Sensor so it matches the 160mm rotor on it. Mission accomplished and pads are now spot on!

That done, I moved over to the Chameleon, starting off by putting a couple 5mm bolts in the fixed derailer mount tabs. I never liked the mounts them there, and this cleans it up a bit.

As I hate the SRAM/AVID warble, it has a bastard rear brake set up, with a SRAM Level caliper and a Shimano rotor. The rotor doesn't quite match up to the Shimano rotor, so I found two thin washers I put under the caliper to raise it just that little bit. It has near perfect pad contact now!

Finally I got to work swapping out the seat collar from the lever type to a bolt type. A bit of a hassle with a dropper, but not hard.
Went with 90's purple from Salsa:

And for the record, I weighed the stock plus wheelset with the 29er one I purchased. 200 gram difference, so nearly a half pound on each wheel. Wow. If I go back to plus tires, which I like a lot, I'll be tempted to get some carbon rims just to get some of that rotational mass reduced.

Cleaned off a ton of mud picked up on the first 100 yards of the final climb out of Whiting yesterday. Clay City. Ended up pushing it up the wet grass strip on the side of the dirt road to keep the build-up from going terminal. Lets just say my heart again goes out to those CC/VQ riders from last year and their B* mudfest.

That looks like a split washer. I would replace it with a solid one-if you cannot get the correct adapter to work for your needs.

Oh yeah, my new hardtail weighs in at 23.8lbs with Trail pedals, bottle cages, pump and really heavy Garmin mount. Tires and wheels add to the burly build.
Beats my Highball by close to 4lbs-Fox 32 120mm adds 2.5 lbs, dropper post 1 lb...

Good catch! Yes, that's all I could find that fit. Not optimal for a solid mount, but right now less warble than direct contact!

Nah. That's what happens when you run a rigid fork. 2.5lbs gone. Instantly.
I've always been appreciative of a light bike but not at the cost of durability or longevity. Most lightweight stuff doesn't last too long.

I hear that the red stuff is the most harsh material of all on a drivetrain.

Threw on my 29" Forekasters for today's ride and discovered they are indeed a mud/rain tire. They shed what little mud I came across very well. The rear slipped a couple of times on the climbs but there is less than 50% tread left.20180311_103242-2016x1512.jpg

EA7603E2-5136-4E3C-98E3-2A08826B0689.jpeg The Minion DHF finally shined today. The hero dirt today was just enough to make that tire perform unbelievably well today. I have been on the fence on it, till today and I cannot get the grin off my face on how impressed I was with it. Right tire in the right place today.

Picked up a new bolt for my brake lever and seatpost since I’m apparently ham fisted and stripped them. Brought my bike to the Path to make sure I was getting the correct bolts and they not only had the replacements but swapped them for me so I let them keep the change. Love my old LBS but the Path is closer to where I’m at now and they’ve been treating me good the last few times I’ve been there.

Did an attitude adjustment on the Reba. Went from 100 to 120mm along with a seal change. Only took me two tries to get the fork working right:rolleyes::rolleyes:. Also got the 150mm Reverb Stealth B1 installed. Replaced the 125mm external A2. It too took me two tries to get right:rolleyes::rolleyes:.

I swapped out my DVO Topaz for my Cane Creek DB Inline while I send my DVO back to the mothership for routine service. It's 300% past its service interval.

My CCDBi was serviced at CC in January of 2017 (yes, over a year ago) and I've ridden on it twice. Those two times, it was chirping like wet basketball shoes on a shiny gym floor. I tested it out again after mounting it up. CHIRP! upon fast rebound. It seems to be working otherwise. Maybe it'll chirp itself out.

After swapping out the cassette from my 27+ DT 350's onto my Reserve Carbon 29'r Dt 350 hub and seeing those delicate threads I ordered a new X01 cassette and installed it tonight. I also swapped off the noisy Sram brake discs for Shimano RT 86 Ice tech rotors. Now both sets of rims are matched and should swap out and run/perform with few adjustments.

After scrambling to get the HT built last week before heading to St. George....the dropper hose was much too long. Finally got around to shortening it, and bleeding the 1x Lever. Gotta say.....easy peasy.

I have to remind myself that HT means Hightower and not hardtail when reading your posts about it. Then again it’s usually “SS” when referring to your hardtail. :geek:
