Firstborn crashed into a friend whilst riding my bike. Tweaked the brake lever on his bike which the friend was using, so adjusted it to the right spot. The other bike was my townie, and the fender was bent. Fancy French kind. Yay. Straightened it out some so the wheel spins free. Lubed the chain/pullies/pivots on my BMC MCD. Stared at the rear tire and contemplated replacing it. Decided to ride it some more at least until some threads start showing. Pretty good morning.

    Hydration update...

Pistola and Smash both got new cage and hers a bottle. Both super constrained spaces with piggyback shock. Has to be a Sunlite 6mm alloy side load reversible with an old style Camelbak Podium (stubby) bottle. Or forget it.

Vendetta gets a new bottle that actually works in the special ed Roll Cage. The new Podium, dirt series with the valve cap to keep out the dirt that has been a part of my diet.

I was only getting about 100 mm of travel on my 130 mm fork, so I decided to take out a spacer. Down to one, and it feels much squishier!

My new RS fork loads up a bit too early so I too may need to pull a token.

New sneaker for the rear of the Hightower... Not that it wasn’t a riot dragging the DHR through the sand on the Toll Road... :gag:

The SE4 should roll better...

And shave 60 grams from a critical part! I have a 2.4 SE4 on standby, waiting for my 2.4 DHR to succumb. It might happen by the time the Nuggets get dipped in October.

I flipped a chip in each seat stay of my SquiggleBug and went from Plush to Crush. Same geometry but much more progression in the rear suspension. Crush is relative to a 34+ pound squiggly Amazon, but she done good for me for the task at hand. The hype is real.

Interested in your impression. I tried Crush a couple of times and didn't find it useful or an improvement in any big way. I owe myself another try with my tuned shock. :geek:

A capable 29-lb hardtail sounds right in the pocket to me. Shaving $600 of weight isn't going to make it ride better. Lots of hardtails that their owners love weigh more than yours.

I didn't weigh my Vendetta until now. 27.1 lbs singlespeed. So my bike would weight what Snake's does if I put gears on it. Very anecdotal data...

At this point, it's all about ME. Does a mere 3 grams less on a bike make me ride better? Absolutely. I've known myself for 54+ years now. And when I say better, I mean FASTER UPHILL. That's where ME comes into play. The bike does the DH work, I do the climbing work. Climbing is what matters to me. The lighter the bike is, the faster I go uphill. That's the formula that has always worked for me. Hence, my weight-weeniness. :D

Come on now Dio, you know that there are certain things that are a given, regardless of weight. Take your EXO sidewall tires, for example. You could have held the Hindenburg down with those heavy things but you're not about to sacrifice their reliability through the gnar, are you? :p
