Well.... Courtey's new Tallboy came with Sram Level Tl's. They squealed a bunch so I swapped out the rotors for Ice Techs. Still more noise so yesterday I was going to swap pads out when I discovered that the Level Tl's have a different shape brake pad. Enough of that and single piston in the rear to boot. So... Backcountry has Sram Guide Ultimates for $ 231.00 with 12% Active Junky discount... They'll be here shortly. Courtney says she wants to ride the Maple Springs Motorway. o_O ** Side note- I asked Courtney to join IMTB. I hope she does.

The Levels take the same pads as the old Elixirs... Lots of choices out there. I use the Trucker Co pads with st-66 rotors and haven’t had the howl in a long time... The Centerline rotors were made by the devil in the depths of hell. :devilish:

That’s on the single speed, which has been down Motorway probably 75 times.

Not yet. I have to shorten the hoses. Think they are gonna replace the SLX's on the SS.

I have a barely used set of 2020 Shimano Deore 4-piston brakes. Six rides on the front, brand new rear. They are strong and progressive. I got upgrade-itis and bought XTs.

Make me an offer. Most of you would need to have the hoses trimmed. They came off the XL Firebird.

EDIT: Never mind. I am keeping the XTs and putting the warrantied Deores back on the Roasted Chicken.

Many years ago my wife grabbed me by the collar and said " Boys? Casts and stitches? Those are common. Girls? Casts and stitches don't go well. Don't mess up our daughter" And this is when after watching her jump her quad and bust the front of the fender bars off it.o_O She was around 10 yrs. old. I thought it best to put her on a motorcycle ( and so did our club ) . Safer than a 4 wheeler. So, regarding the brakes on her SC. She will have the same equivalent brakes that I have and if she goes down it won't be because I didn't do my part. ( And keeps me in good standing with the Mrs. :whistling: )

I've had no problem at all with the Centerline rotors on Guide brakes. Totally silent, accept when wet but all brakes are noisy when wet.

Gonna put a Minion DHF Exo 3c 2.5 WT on the front of my Tracer, now that I have a rim wide enough to work with the WT.

At 1000 grams per tire, it's no wonder that the climbs are tough.

Love my 2.5WT DHF/Aggressor combo. Low PSI and mega traction. Hardly notice the weight difference on the climbs.

Then keep using them and be thankful that you've never experienced the turkey warble of death. It's life altering to feel the brake vibrations travel through the frame and into your hands. The sound can be heard for miles... :p

I love the SRAM Levels... The stopping power is beyond XTs. But, I can't run any SRAM parts with the SRAM brakes. And I know that keeping them running smoothly is more of a pain than with Shimano.

I have an old school 2.5 on the front of the Hightower that probably has 1/4 inch of sealant glued to the inside from mounting and unmounting for Cannell trips. 1500 grams easily... :p But it's a riot. I'll be sad when she finally wears out.

The DHR is the one I can't stand to climb with... I may need to go your route and pick up an Aggressor for Utah.

I didn't particularly care for the DHR either. Mind you this combo is for my slower paced "aggressive" rides. Though a little heavy they actually roll pretty well.

Yep... I have a lighter combo as well. Koko was with Rekons front and rear. But, I've been crashing a lot more lately, so the beefier tire may save me every now and then. :p

Rekons on the single speed... And I can attest that heavy front braking in mud with a Rekon is not a good combo.

Rode the Rocky Mountain today and had a fun road ride.
Back about 9 months ago I had the forks worked on. Installed new internals, and they've never felt right. Todays ride they did not feel good at all, in fact they sucked. Kind of rough in the travel, even going off a curb it was like "thunk". Got home, let air out, cycled it put more air in and they still suck no matter what I adjusted.

Anyway I'd like to get the fork serviced. 2014 Fox factory 150 fork, new 2018 internals ( or so I was told). Please, recommendations on a good shop, or I'd really like if someone here is good with forks I'd be more than happy to pay for the service! I'm sure an iMtb'er will be detail oriented that a shop. TIA!

Seems like you have sent that fork to Fox at least three times, and It's never been right. I don't know of any shops who can go that deep into a Fox fork. Maybe one of the Hooligans can.

Go talk to Joe at BikeCo, and tell him I sent you. He knows more about suspension than anyone in Orange County (mechanic for Brian Lopes, Cody Kelly and Anneke Beerten) and might be able to suggest a course of action. I predict he will say send it back to Fox, but it would be a good idea to check, and you live ten minutes away.

But then thought maybe cut to the chase and just send to fox.
Hhmmmm.....supporting a local LBS ain't a bad thing.... either way its gotta get dialed.

Just bought an 11.6 for the Yeti. Only thing left I'd like is some carbon wheels. My Reverb post just took a crap the other day and it would be $160 to rebuild it, so it's basically garbage. I scored a deal on a used Margura Vyron electronic dropper, so I'm going to give that a go. I was really eyeballing the Fox Transfer as well.
