What animal left that scat thread

Couldn't believe there wasn't already a thread on this topic, knowing there are some experts on the topic on this forum. (BTW, someone once suggested starting a thread on this topic, in an e-bike thread no less, but no one ever started the thread. True story. So, here we are.)

I'll start. On a hike today, near our cabin west of Lake arrowhead in the San Bernardinos, I came across this:


I didn't get any close-ups, but didn't notice any skeletal remains or feathers or anything. It kinda looked similar in age too, so that kind of volume would have come from a fairly large animal.

We have seen black bears around, but not for a few years. Any other suggestions? Does it matter? Well, if it was from a mountain lion it would. Or a human..... TIA

Bobcat because the size and frequency in one spot. Cats...

 

There is a lion at Strawberry peak. I have seen him/her, not full-size, maybe a juvenile, but I wouldn't want to try and snuggle with it. I saw its poop on the trail one day and you know you don't look at stuff on the trail unless you want to hit it.
That's what I did. Ran my front tire right over it. Sticky, full of small bones, and exceptionally stinky.
I had to scrape it off the tire with a stick and I could still see the remnants as I rolled down the trail. Got home and put the bike in the garage and walked into a cat-Sh!t stink party a couple of hours later.
There was a big chunk stuck on my downtube... A scrub brush and some of Humboldt's finest were used to clean the bike and freshen the air...

 

You might want to keep that. Auction kings sold a 65 million year old dinosaur turd for 50-bucks.

I was talking about the Strawberry Peak in the San Bernadino Mtns. I think you're talking about the Strawberry in the San Gabes(?)

 

Yeah, the San Gabes. Never liked the name Strawberry. Looks more like a perky breast to me.
