Hehe, I'm not much of a historian. I'll take your word for it. But stuffing straw in the oversizes boots, allegedly, made a difference.

I was kicking through the snow recently with my generous toe boxes and loving that loose feel up there. Not easy to sell that feeling to the cycling community, but things are changing. Aerodynamics don't mean much under 10 mph...

Yep....straw and/or newspaper in the shoes can make a difference. Unless said straw or newspaper is wet. And the wind is cold.

Oh yeah! Glove slut here. Probably have a dozen pairs. Started my day wearing DeFeet wool gloves, finished up with a Specialized XC comp. It's good to have options.
Still looking for a close-fitting, wind and waterproof glove that breathes better than nitrile... My PI WXB outer shell is a bit big and I had a close call when it got hung up on my front brake lever!

I'd much rather hit a stream crossing at the end of a ride on 95 degree day.

My buddy got his feet wet early in the ride. I was kind of envious of him crashing through the hub-deep streams while I rock hopped in my Goretex shoes

But his feet were cold and numb, mine were fine

I hear good things about Sealskinz gloves but haven’t tried myself yet. They sell socks too!

I found them to be somewhat fragile when used in an mtb setting. The fabric outer coating would catch and pull on rocks and trees. Kind of like Velcro. Once the inner liner is exposed, they're done.
This was a few years back so maybe they're worth another look. They were waterproof while they lasted.

GTK! Maybe I’ll look for reviews on the newer ones then.
    Thanks Ross!
