Looks like all of the moisture took it’s toll on my lower bottle cage mount. I went to remove the two bolts today to toss on a cage and the lower one broke in the frame. The bolt was siezed and when I added a little elbow torque the insert snapped. I’m assuming that it’s a rivnut? I was able to use a dremel to cut off the head of the nut. Any thoughts on how to do the repair? Do I just need to drill out the remaining sleeve and replace with a new rivnut?

When I got my replacement frame for the Chameleon, one of the water bottle mounts was messed up. The Path replaced it in about 5 minutes...

It's usually just replacing a riv-nut. Pretty straight forward but, I have seen out-of-round holes in carbon frames that required carbon repair or replacement.

Ibis, followed up with me. It is indeed a 5mm rivnut. They recommended using a 7.5mm(19/64) drill bit to drill out the remainder of the rivnut. They tossed a couple of replacement rivnuts and some epoxy in the mail for me today.

Well, that was pretty painless. Ibis sent out the replacement rivnuts and some epoxy. It was a little unnerving taking a drill to the carbon frame but the insert came out easily. I ordered a cheap rivnut insertion tool from Amazon for a few bucks.

You're a braver man than I....I've drilled titanium, inconel steel, aluminum, on airplanes (and you fly? :Roflmao) but I'd have to pass on drilling a carbon frame. I'd leave that to the professionals. Or someone I could blame it on and get a new frame out of.
