V: Cannell Trail (The Sequel)

Man!
I spend so much more time putting together a video of a ride, then the ride itself. There was so much good footage, I struggled big time trying to edit it down. Always blown away about the footage I didn't get that I thought I got!

Well there were 3 subjects I wanted to capture...
Chasing the ghost of Berni... (could NOT have worked out better, with @rossage 's lyrical extravaganza!
@Faust29 , and his emotional denial of superior cycling equipment...
And, a vid using "Perfect Strangers" as it is both @Luis and my all time favorite tune by Deep Purple...

I'm tellin yah that was a great ride with a great group, despite the fire conditions! Awesome memories! I could probably make 3 more vids out the bulk...

 

The part where they say "We got Berni" really brings back the emotions of that ride. I must have heard Berni's name a dozen times that ride. I was already thinking about "Chasing the Ghost of Berni" as we rode away from the cabin. Then it was for real!
The cocky assurance while tech climbing over the rocks.
Oh Sh!t! Oh Sh!t!!!!.....Yeah! I can't believe I pulled that off!
The terrified confidence while bombing fast, rocky, off-camber, loose, Did I mention fast?, singletrack.
I know my brake is screaming but it better keep f@cking working! NOW!!!!

Damn, what a day.

 

Berni...all this ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^is a compliment. Anyway it would be to me if I were the subject.

Nothing but love and a compliment to Berni.
For anyone who does not know the Berni (@bigringrider101 ) the way we do, the guy is an ANIMAL on the climbs, fierce descender on the drops. And all on rigid, plus tire, avant garde bicycles. The first time I met Berni was on a ride I called and he TOTALLY kicked my azz! No ride is complete without the Bern-n-Nator! This is a friendly razzing kind of place like sibling rivalry...

 

To me it wasn't a compliment.
The fact that you are bragging about beating my strava time on the Plunge descent. It would compare to... A 25 year old bragging about beating a 75 year old on a feast fight. The other way around would be perfectly acceptable though.

 

Really? You have all of IMTB complimenting your abilities, writing songs and literally singing your praises, but it's not a compliment?

Ohhhh Kaaaayyyyyy....

 

Im just trying to figure out why a 25 and 75 year old would get into feast fight?
I've heard of "Battle of the Bands", but... "Battle of the Glands"?

 

Didn't some guy in England a few centuries back say that as long as the poem survives, the subject will always be alive? What was that guy's name again?

Dude! From my point of view, I don't think I have ever seen anyone get such a Sh!t-ton of praise from his fellow riders. What happened was, you made these guys risk their hides to beat a time you probably set quite casually. Nobody on the ride or this site has said or done anything that wasn't complimentary to you and your abilities as a rider.

I was chasing quite a few ghosts that day, yours just happened to be easiest to rhyme with. The poem/song was heartfelt and an expression of the emotions of that ride.
