Grab your fish, groveler, mid-size or longboard and let's paddle with the sharks! Gentle waves, low crowd, warm water.

Meet Location: San Onofre Bluffs - Trail 1. $15 or Ca State Parks Pass required. Go south on I-5 to Basilone Rd exit south of San Clemente. Turn right and go to the end.
Skill Level: Beginner, Intermediate
Ride Pace: Social Cruise, Easy with Moments of Effort
Type of Ride: Out and Back
Rider Limit: none
Anticipated Mileage: 1/2 mile hike. Easy to Moderate paddle out.
Elevation Gain: Parking is about 100 feet above sea level. Waves are at sea level, by definition.
Ride Duration: As long as you want. I typically ride for 90 minutes.

Possible Bail-Outs: Paddle in anytime. Or paddle in really quickly if you see a shark, but not faster than me.
Facilities: Potties at both ends of the parking lot, but not at the beach. Pee in the ocean if you wish.
Food/water suggestions: Bring a water bottle. Salt water isn't very refreshing.

I'm guessing this is not the kind of ride invite @Mikie had in mind. Ooops.

 

My bike would not do well there. But I know how to body surf...

 

Man I’d love to come out and ride with you, but I am so busy tomorrow there is no way I could make it. I never get down to the OC.

 

I will repeat on Saturday and Sunday, if you care to join in.

 

Not really steep enough for good body surfing. Plus, you won't drive more than 15 minutes to ride, right? Or is it that you just won't go south of Anaheim?

 

Sharks don't bother you, they are swimming under you in the surf line. But what is sea level? Every time I go it changes sometimes dropping, sometimes rising, if I stay long enough both. One word of advice, don't pee in your wet suit unless you like salty water.

 

My next 2 Sunday’s are already spoken for but maybe after that.
