    Ride Name: Tobias
    When: To Be Determined
    Time: To Be Determined
    Where: Kernville
    Ride Description or Details:
    Up above Wolford Heights in the Lake Isabella area instead of turning left at the pass to Just Outstanding, turning right is Tobias. 22.5 miles of awesome wilderness and get this... only 2,890 feet of climbing. Fire Road, Duo Track, and tons of Singletrack, this wilderness run finishes with a serious drop to the Kern River and connects to the Whiskey Flats Trail and we head north to the bridge and cross to McNally's for great burgers. Or... we can head down to the Kern River Brewing Company.

    This is a shuttle ride but for the right reasons. A pre-drop of a vehicle fully capable of carrying everone back to the trailhead is required due to the shear miles. This means we can strategize a meet point of Kern River Brewing Company to drop all vehicles, then take a vehicle to McNally's, then drive up to the Trailhead. Ride the trail. Get a ride to KRB, drink beer, eat good food, then part ways.

    ~~~~~ Optional Details ~~~~~
    Meet Location:
    We can meet at Flying J, head up the 5 to the 99 then make a right onto the 170 to Lake Isabella.
    Skill Level: Intermediate, Advanced
    Ride Pace: Easy with Moments of Effort, Moderate Pace
    Type of Ride: Point A to B Shuttle
    Rider Limit: 7 due to Shuttle strategy
    Anticipated Mileage: 22.6 Miles
    Elevation Gain: 2,890 feet
    Ride Duration: 4 hours... ha hah!
    Previous Ride Reports: https://www.imtbtrails.com/forum/threads/rr-the-tobias-trail.2651/#post-19968
    Possible Bail-Outs: Nope! Ride or die trying...
    Facilities: Nope. Only before the trailhead and at the very end.
    Food/water suggestions: More than last time. :-(
    Good to know...
    I doubt it will replace, i think it will compliment. I also have a Cedar Canyon ride I want to do this year that leaves from the same exact place as Cannell. So looking at 3 Kernville adventures!
    You can really get your moneys worth by doing them all in one weekend, just sayin' :whistling: https://www.imtbtrails.com/forum/threads/kernville-memorial-day-2015.2582/
    With the added benefit of a side by side comparison with Cannell, so people might finally realize it is not the best ride in Socal!
    Even though I don't share your opinion of Cannell, I would agree it's not the best trail (or even close) to the best trail in SoCal. If they could delete the actual "plunge" and the bottom was a variety of trail features and styles like the upper sections, I'd enjoy it a lot more.
    Everyone knows that the very best trail in So Cal, yard for yard is El Prieto. It's only lacking length. If it was 10 miles long, we'd have riders from France flying in to ride. Suck it up boys, the best trail, for what it is, is in my back yard.
    I love Cannell. Maybe it’s not the greatest(come to think of it I don’t have a favorite trail) but it’s damn fun when you do it with the right group of hooligans.
    What, better than dog tags or g-out? Ok I’ll see myself out now...:Roflmao:p:rolleyes:
    WRONG!
    The Cannell is perfect, just the way it is. It may not be the best trail in So Cal, but that’s subjective. I’m not sure what the best trail is in So. Cal, but I dare say that the data source that @konakc is going to quote google search is based on Fullerton flatlanders...:p
    WRONG!
    It’s a great trail but because it IS too short it ain’t the greatest trail, no “if’s” about greatest trails....Sheesh!:rolleyes::p
    WRONG!
    Get real!
    PARTY FOUL! :D
    We all know what you consider to be the greatest trail because you helped to build it. That's not fair. :rolleyes:
    El Prieto is the greatest trail you did not build. There, we're done here. :Roflmao
    I realize it's not exactly a single trail but it is run off a "single drop" just like Cannell but my vote would go to Mt Lowe (East) to Middle Merrill to Sunset Ridge to El Prieto. Out of those if I was forced to choose ONE section, I'd have to say that Sunset Ridge is my favorite out of those followed by Mt Lowe. I'd say I'd also personally put the SART Hell Ride and Noble Canyon up there. I'm sure there's something fantastic out there I haven't ridden as well.
    I feel lucky to have ridden one of the biggest of the Lost San Gabriel Epics: Pacoima Canyon Trail, from Lightning Point to Dillon Divide. Ponderosa pine to sage and yucca, cliff hanging switchbacks, swoopy creek crossings, serious backcountry. The upper section from Lightning Point to Indian Ben Saddle is gone. The rest sees only foot traffic now because the middle section gets rearranged by floods yearly.
