Low 70s when I started at 830. Maybe low 80s when finished at 1130. Did a road ride on the bike path to the beach and back. Weather was perfect and the "view" around the back bay wasn't half bad either.

Crazy night over here in the Mulholland Corridor. Tons of lightning and thunder, and I opened the sliding glass door shortly after 8:00 to hear the rain. As soon as I did there was a big flash and immediate bang that shook the house. About 10 minutes later there was a notification on PulsePoint of a brush fire about a tenth of a mile from the house. Over the next ten minutes seven or eight fire trucks and a couple sheriff deputies came into the neighborhood and a fire helicopter was circling low. Apparently the strike was right over the ridge (basically where my ride report from yesterday was from), and it did ignite a fire. Trucks are leaving now, but from my vantage point up fairly high it looks like the whole corridor is without power. Sure hope we get some more moisture tonight.

    Hang in there, guys.

I’m good with forced down time this week, not really a choice, but a system is moving through with chances of precip and upper 40s for the high later this week. This weekend should be incredible for those that can ride.

strange.. can dogs have a sense of something new? wonderment? she sat and looked up while we did the same.. at first she barked.. then relaxed and enjoyed the show...
    this dog is something..

Here's a pic of the strike point. Doesn't look like anything really caught fire around it, which makes sense given the moisture the preceded it. Just a torched scrub oak that probably sparked and smoldered for a bit. I could see where the fire fighters dug a line around it and chopped the remnants of the tree up. Pretty trippy scene. Neighbor described it as looking like a small missile had hit, which I thought was pretty accurate.

Gnarly lightning strike shot, bug.

They said snow level to 6700’ this AM but I just saw the precip looking pretty floaty here at 5900. No accumulation. A badly needed squall.

F that....I'm all about the high 50's/low 60's temps

NorCal is about to get wet and/or white over the next 5 days. There's people posting links on MTBR predicting 8" in Santa Cruz and over a foot of rain east of Chico. Seems like a lot as Underground is predicting 3-4" in Santa Cruz and about 6" in Chico.

Packer Saddle looks to have got 4-6" of snow the other day and Yuba says this weekend will be the last for shuttles this season.

A good thing about being laid up: Can’t be shut down by weather.:cool:

This would have been maddening. Truckee is at 120% of normal October precip with more days of it on tap. Intermittent showers since Sunday; by Tuesday, 3-4’ (feet) of snow at higher elevations, enough to close the MTB season.

Sometimes everything aligns for success. Other times you can’t buy a win. Gotta smile and go with it all. o_O:)

Well, I did used to work in an engine room. I held a thermometer that was reading 192 :devilish:

But I also don't live in San Diego anymore

It was warmer this morning, my commute was 50 with a low of 45

That engine room ruined your viscosity. No snow/ice sports for you! :(:geek:

This is a thing! I grew up near Buffalo with the dreaded lake effect snow in my back yard. Never owned a coat, jumped through the ice, etc... 15 years in Florida and I'm shivering when it drops under 70.

When we moved to SoCal in 2005, I thought we landed in Alaska by mistake... It took 6 months before I could go outside without a parka. :Roflmao

It is a hell of a thing to watch sweat drip off your head, fall on to the deck plate you are standing on, and then see it sizzle and boil off.

Yeah, the engine room is an insane place. Oh, and loud. Standing between four turbos the size of a 5 liter engine, attached to two engines the size of a school bus...each. Standing below two 400 horsepower boilers.

I like my hot weather :Roflmao

Absolutely!! When I was working on the beach in San Diego, I worked 5pm-3am but we wore shorts 95% of the time but we could always pick out the folks from Arizona because they were the ones wearing jackets and hoodies when it was 75 at night. Freezing for them, coming from temps of 110 and above back home.
