Truckee River @ stateline got snow down to ~5700' – which means all my local riding is dusted right now. 35° @ 5000' @ 7:30am.

Exactly what these trails needed. Should be fantastic conditions this week.

Cool! This dusting is already toast, and this week is peaking at 80°. So the remainders of snow will be more scarce by next week. The Martis area will be some of the last to melt (as you know), so you might have to do some driving.

This morning the Santa Anas went on like a switch... Went from quiet to blowing under 5 mins... Not exaggerating I thought someone turned on a large water source or something I got you and looked around...huh it's the wind

Dude, that is some brutal heat coming on all over California. Lows in the 50s help up here, but Tahoe Rim is cracking 80 in spots, no escape.

It was a scorching 78° in LCWP as I pedaled up Willow around noon. Brutal!

 

It took me 20 years of living at the beach to realize the few things about it that are worse than heat. And I’ve lived in some fukking heat. I can live just about anywhere I choose. The beach doesn’t even register for us anymore. Enjoy it.

 

111F outside, the AC is set to 78, and going full bore can only cool down to 80F. Good times.

Only 100 for a high here in Lake Forest today. But our poorly spec'd condo AC (and lack of insulation) can only keep it at 84 inside.
I'm still stuck in the garage at about 95 with the dogs while my wife plays Animal Crossing on the big screen
At least I have the beer fridge.

 

New planet high temperature, Death Valley of course, 130 F.


Loyalton Fire has us smoked out near Reno. Take care, everyone.

 

Except that it's the highest since 1931. Not highest ever.

 

The news is calling the 130F degree Death Valley mark, "the highest temp in a century".

 

The Temps of 131 and 134 are supposedly in question..
One thing not is question though is that 130 is freaking hot, and if not a record temp its right up there.

It was 119F on my balcony here in the beautiful Crescenta Valley a few days ago. Our balcony is located in an alcove, on the afternoon-sunny side of the building. It gets HOT out there in the warm season!

 

We moved to Bullhead City, AZ August 1978. It was 127° when we rolled into town. I could not wait to get the hell out of there.

BC often gets the national high. That would get old quickly!! Phoenix was not quite that bad, but two decades on, forget it. I worked construction for a few years in it. Mountains, lakes and rivers are a few hours away, so you talk yourself into thinking it's livable. But it sucks.

 

It was 109 on Sunday here in Baking Bakersfield will be over 105 for the next week. Thankfully I just got home from Pismo Beach.

 

Yeah. If we weren't in school we were down at the river or up at Lake Mohave.

The 75* high at my mom's place sounds really swell right now...

 

Maybe somewhere in between.
