As bad as the wind sucked yesterday it actually blew me all the way to the beach. It stopped me in my tracks a couple of times but was otherwise tolerable.

Well, back to drought in socal it seems. Sucks, started off so good in November and December, then barely any rain Jan-feb.
2 week forecast: nada. Hopefully March will bring some, but after that not likely. Sigh...

I heard that on the News the other day. They did add that our state also has the highest water reserve it has ever had before though, so at least they have been planning ahead.

Well, 16-17 and 18-19 sure filled up our reservoirs! And Norcal has had decent rain in jan.

Our rain is partially controlled by an oscillating weather pattern that steers storms north or south on a roughly 3 month cycle. If we get a wet November/December, we will usually have a dry January/February followed by a “March miracle” or a wet April. Other cycles like El Niño intensify or diminish the storms too.

when the dry portion of the madden-julian oscillation aligns with La Niña, we get postcard February days.

it’s good to have full reservoirs...these cycles span generations, so it’s important that we ignore all the 20 year olds telling us to tear out dams to save the fish. They haven’t been alive long enough, and their teachers refuse to make them read enough, to know all the actual history twitter and YouTube don’t teach them.

USFS blew out a number of rock dams in upper Trabuco a couple years ago for the Steelheads. Then the fire came and they closed it so never got to see the handywork. And the debris flows last winter probably mucked it all up. Nothing to do with reservoirs, or current weather even...

Well, looks like another rain fizzled out in OC. (But surrounding areas got a little more).
    More chances next week.

On and off all day in RSM yesterday, but nothing sustained... Too wet for the painters to finish our pergola, though. Back today.

And they took out several in Silverado, as well. Some of the locals weren't too happy to lose their swimming holes.

HOLY SHEEE-ITE!!! Rain in the forecast every single day for the 10 day forecast, and COLD. It appears as though we will be having a "March Miracle" in 2020.:mad::(o_O:facepalm::gag::cry:

What’s with all the sad emojis?
Already 1.8” in laguna since march 1. Sure OC parks closed for a while but we sure need the rain. Hero dirt in the Santa Ana’s!
Just got back from a trip to Zion and Bryce, on and off rain and snow the whole time. Parks were very uncrowded

I am spoiled by the mild weather pattern this state usually has. I want to be able to go outside in comfort. I wear shorts and t-shirts year round. I hate having to bundle up just to go out my front door lately.

I was talking to a customer yesterday about how spoiled we are here. My winter gear is a pullover and a baseball cap. 2-3 weeks of unsettled weather is going to be tough.

And now it's raining that whole time...

Just gonna have to suck it up...

Maybe see what REI had for affordable gear.... A shell or windbreaker at least...

The two week total for Santiago Peak is 13 inches so far, and it sounds like it had another inch in the last few minutes. Pretty sure I know how that rider swallowing hole formed on San Juan.
